I just thought it'd be useful to know who'll be taking the penalties for each country e.g. for fantasy football purposes

Tell me if anyone disagrees with my guesses:

Portugal - Luis Figo
Spain - Raul
Greece - Nikoladis
Russia - Mostovoi

France - Henry/Zidane
England - Beckham (i don't think Owen)
Switzerland - Hakan Yakin
Croatia - Prso

Italy - Del Piero/Totti
Sweden - Kallstrom (Larsson?)
Denmark - Tomasson
Bulgaria - Berbatov/Petrov

Czech Rep - Koller
Germany - Ballack
Holland - Van Nistelrooy
Latvia - Verposkosis

    :)

I'm surprised nobody's questioned my guess for Czech Republic's penalty taker...

Graham, it'd be nice if you told us which Yakin you think is gonna take Switzerland's penos ;)

I agree with most, if not all, of your candidates though. For Italy it's anyone's guess between DP and Totti. I remember Ale scoring a spot kick against Wales in the 4-0 thrashing, but Totti didn't play in that game so..

I'd take zizou over henry. Thierry misses far too many penalties
I know that this probably isn't a decisive factor, but at club level Henry is a first choice penalty kick taker. Zidane isn't.

Iirc Totti missed like three or four penalties this season alone, and DP has only ever missed one big one, that being against Depor a couple years back. He's never missed any for Italy, or none that I remember anyways.

I have the feeling it might be Totti though. Trap loves him.

I wouldn't jump to a conclusion based on that. I don't have any stats to back me up but as far I recall, Zidane vigorously accepts the penalty duty for his national team. He's not one of those who takes all penalties wherever he goes but for France he usually takes them iirc. I guess it would bore him to take them at club level too.. :D
