Some lovely play from Bilbao tonight.

Always like to see teams who look to move the ball fast in order to get the ball wide and put quality balls into the box.

Fair result. After the changes Udinese dominated the game.
Udinese may have had the ball and the territory, but the barely created a chance.

Draw was a fair result, though.

I'll never understand these smaller sides doing whatever they can to finish as high as possible in the league only to totally ignore the "reward" of reaching the higher spots.

They certainly played like a Bielsa team, but that's the first time I've seen them this season. They seem to have started the season slowly, so don't know if this was a one-off or the team starting to understand what Bielsa wants.

PSG made it easy for them, though, by allowing them an extra man the centre of midfield. This allowed Bilbao to control the tempo easily and get the ball into wide areas without any great difficulty.

The Italian style of play kills them in EL. Most Euro teams don't care anyway so it favors those that play an open/attacking brand and aren't scared of losing points.

Generally the pressure is off for everyone so trying to frustrate opponents, or destroy their play, or putting their nerves to the test just doesn't work like in the League or a competition that actually means something.

Udinese keeps getting points with rotated squads, albeit much less than they did against Celtic. I wonder if they'll start taking it serious in the knockout rounds (assuming they progress)
