CL: Draw danger for Serie A sides
Wednesday 10 December, 2008
The draw for the second round of the Champions League could be very tough for Juventus and Roma despite topping their groups.

There are bound to be some unusually big clashes in the knockouts, as the likes of Real Madrid, Inter, Chelsea and Arsenal have finished runners-up.

Juve and Roma will be seeded in the draw on December 19, but Inter risk going head-to-head with Barcelona, Liverpool, Manchester United or Bayern Munich.

Group winners: Roma, Panathinaikos, Barcelona, Liverpool, Manchester United, Bayern Munich, Porto, Juventus.

Runners-up: Chelsea, Inter Milan, Sporting, Atletico Madrid, Villarreal, Lyon, Arsenal, Real Madrid.

Any math genius made some scientific calculations on the probability of our next opponent?

I don't think they're all equal since some clubs can't face each other...

I think we are most likely to get an English team.

Due to there being two English group winners that Arsenal and Chelsea can't face. No other 2nd placed teams have that many teams they can't face.

I think...

You're right.

We're most likely to face an English team, then a Spanish team, then Sporting and percentually we're least likely to face Lyon.

Lyon´s Cris and Juninho fined by UEFA for deliberate bookings

Lyon players Cris and Juninho were fined 10,000 and 15,000 euros respectively for deliberately committing fouls to receive yellow cards, European football's governing body UEFA said on Thursday.

The bookings in the 2-1 win at Fiorentina last month meant the two players missed Wednesday's 3-2 defeat at home to Bayern Munich which had little riding on it as both teams had qualified for the Champions League knockout phase.

UEFA said in a statement: "The two Lyon players Cris and Juninho have been fined 10,000 and 15,000 euros respectively for deliberately committing fouls in order to get yellow cards.

"As these two players had already been booked during the group phase, it meant they were suspended on Wednesday for the 3-2 home defeat to Bayern Munich. They have three days to appeal the decision."

The two Brazilians had said after the match in Italy to have worked it that a third yellow card would purge a suspension meaning they started again at zero for next year's last 16 knockout stage, knowing Lyon had already qualified.
Hehe , remind of Sissoko on 5th Matchday Againts Zenith in St.Petersburg , he did the foul on purpose , and UEFA didn't take any action , i've to say Sissoko is a better Actor than Lyon's Duo :D

They were stupid enough to admit what they had done. Sissoko's been silent.

Inter can do damage to Barcelona, I think. I prefer Inter facing an English team, they are out 100 % then. Barca would struggle against Inter IMO.
