UEFA ban Valencia's Navarro for seven months

UEFA have suspended Valencia's David Navarro for seven months for his role in the on-pitch brawl which marred the Spanish club's Champions League game against Inter Milan on March 6.

The disciplinary body announced the decision today after examining the official reports of the delegate and referee, along with video evidence.

European football's governing body also fined the Primera Liga club 250,000 Swiss francs (£106,000), but opted not to impose a stadium ban which will come as a huge relief for Valencia who play Chelsea in the quarter-finals.

After examining the official reports of the delegate and referee, as well as video evidence, the UEFA disciplinary body has also imposed bans on several other players from both teams for their part in the incidents after the final whistle, as reported on UEFA.com.

In addition to Navarro, Inter defenders Nicolás Burdisso and Maicon have been banned for six matches and Valencia defender Carlos Marchena for four. Inter defender Iván Córdoba and striker Julio Cruz have received three and two-match bans respectively.

UEFA said it would now ask world football's governing body FIFA to extend the suspension imposed on Navarro to international level so that it also applies to any football competitions - including domestic leagues and national-team fixtures - on top of UEFA club competition matches.

The suspensions imposed on the other players will only apply to UEFA club competition matches. Appeals may be lodged against any of these decisions within three days after receipt of the written grounds for the decisions.

What bugs me the most is that Inter, as a club, got no fines or bans whatsoever, even though their whole club showed complete unprofessionalism after a CL game that was televised and viewed by millions. Valencia's punishment feels just, the same cannot be said about Inter's.

i feel as though Inter are viewed as the hard done by Italian club that cant win anything because of the other clubs *read Milan and Juventus* so referees and uefa take a look on this as give em a break and let them get away with much more than any other club either hat or Maoratti is paying Uefa off as well so Inter can be succesful this and next year.

Bottling big time. Inter as a club should have been punished and i don't mean fining them as thats a lot of nonsense as far as I am concerned. They ought to have been banned for at least 3 years as this is not the first time they have done this kind of nonsense. Uefa, then go ahead an ban players that are not recognised superstars to act as if what their decision to punish Inter and Valencia was a tough one. They probably relent their decision after appeal as they always do. Navarro, a player, i know nothing about however is banned from every competition whilst the other players who behaved just as badly are banned from only Cl, my what big teeth you have Uefa? Little red riding hood has not seen you act so tough in a long time, you goddamned cowards How are Inter going to behave in the future if they keep getting away with stuff?

We can always count on UEFA. Hopefully another incident regarding Inter will happen, one in which they are the only culprits. Perhaps then UEFA and the classy Inter lot will take notice. Struggle and grunts.

They should've just banned Inter from all forms of football for at least 10 years.
:agree:
Morrati have anything to do with this??:shifty:
:money: :money: :money: has obviously been passed from moratti to someone.

That's why inter disgusts me! Punishment for inter???? What punishment??? The only time they get punished is when we thrash them on the pitch!

i am not very sure if this shouldbe posted here but since u guys brought up inter andhow they get away with things here is sth icame across on goal.com and it just shows how low inter is:

Moratti Red-Faced Over Blue Outburst
Italian daily Tuttosport has pointed out that some revealing television images showing Inter chairman Massimo Moratti indulging in 'hooligan-like’ behaviour during the Milan derby were strangely ignored by most of the Italian media in the hours after the game, which Inter won 2-1. Moratti’s allegedly 'indecent’ behaviour apparently began at 16:32, the time at which Zlatan Ibrahimovic put Inter ahead with a fine strike from a Cruz assist.

Images that were not 'covered up’ clearly show the Inter supremo making a gesture similar to the one Mark Van Bommel dedicated to the Real Madrid fans last month, which in Italian means something like 'go forth and multiply,' or more prosaically, 'f-off’.

Tuttosport contends, however, that seven mintues after Ibrahimovic’s goal, Moratti’s 'dark side came out even more’ when he referred to Ronaldo as a 'son of a bitch,’ adding an eloquent 'Ronaldo, go to hell’ to the elegant preamble after the former Inter idol failed to control a Cafu cross.

Tuttosport adds that these images were shown on Mediaset’s live match show 'Direttissima’, but were strangely ignored by the rest of the Italian media, including Mediaset who were the first to show the images for the rest of the day.

Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani, when asked to comment on Moratti’s behaviour, said 'I have nothing to say, as I’m an Ultra myself’.

However, Milan’s official television station, 'Milan Channel’, were somewhat harsher towards their city rival’s chairman.

“Once again these comments show how Inter can’t lose (see Valencia) and can’t win. Never have we seen such lows as we did on Sunday. We’re not surprised. Moratti didn’t even excuse himself with us when Dida was hit by a flare in the Champions League derby.”

Platini pushes for Euro changes
Wednesday 14 March, 2007

UEFA President Michel Platini suggests forcing Italian, English and Spanish sides trying to qualify for the Champions League to face each other.

In the current system, rankings are used so that teams from the top three Leagues are paired with weaker clubs, making it on paper a relatively simple task to reach the tournament proper.

"It's not about disturbing England, Italy or Spain, but about finding a balance,” insisted the former Juventus star.

"Perhaps teams from bigger countries, who have four and three qualifying teams, should play against each other.

“My problem is that the two English, Spanish and Italian teams in the final qualifying round do not play against each other, they play against smaller teams.”

There have been warnings that the dominance of these three Divisions was going to be discouraged in the future of the Champions League.

"We want to add some of the other countries to the competition and to do that we have take some of the others away,” continued Platini.

"I'm not sure that the fourth clubs from Spain, Italy and England are more important than the Champions of Poland, the Czech Republic or Denmark."

Although the proposed changes, if they are voted in, would not be implemented until at least the 2009-10 season, it is set to prove very unpopular with the G-14.

Currently the top two teams from Serie A, La Liga and the Premiership automatically enter the Champions League group phase. Third and fourth go through a qualifying round, where failure will see them re-routed to the UEFA Cup.

This season Chievo stumbled at the qualifying stage, while Inter went out in the second round to Valencia. Milan and Roma are through to the quarter-finals, where they will face Bayern Munich and Manchester United respectively.
