roma are shite away from home. 3-0 is my prediction for the second leg :(
I agree. I think Lyon will go through in the end, but I have a feeling many feel Roma is there to be toasted. I disagree on that. Roma, despite their defeat against Lazio, have generally done extremely well against big squads in last couple of years. I think that is largely down to their excellent midfield and ability to retain the possession.

On paper, Lyon is superior IMO. But I really do believe it will be down to whether (1) Lyon can cope with being the favorites and (2) Houllier can win tactical exchanges with Spalletti. Question (1) remains answered and on (2) I feel the Roman has the edge. However, if Lyon does pull through in a convincing fashion on this fixture, then rest of Europe is warned. They are comfortable at the top.

As much as I hate Ibra, he is better than Villa anyday of the week. I find Villa to be grossly overrated since I don't follow La Liga every week. In Europe and for Spain he has been average at best.

Crespo is far better striker than Mori. Better movement, better in the air, more clinical in front of goal. Cruz, Adriano, Recoba arent too bad to have in the subs bench idea. Oh Stankovic and Viera are far superior to any of the Valencia midfielders you mentioned.

There is nothing I hate more than Inter, but that team is loaded. They have bench to match Chelskis (though Chelski probably judge edge them in this department), match winners up-front, solid defenders at the back, and boring as us last year.

That is not say Valencia doesnt have a chance. But they are overrated by many, and I think Inter go into this fixture as clear favorite. I say 55:45 is probably be the difference between two teams.
I think the same, my friend...

I knew it...

BTW. I think Lyon will have some problems with Roma no matter how superior they are...

Villa is the best
:D

I just want to point out I didnt mean to say David Villa is crap. My point is, as I havent followed him in La Liga (I used follow La Liga until 3 years ago not anymore), and based on his performance at the big stage I am not entirely convinced why he is so highly rated in that league. Of course Ibra has his share of coming short in big stages, but IMO he still far more proven than Villa in matches where it matters. After all, Javi Moreno banged in god knows how many goal in La Liga and did squat with Milan. He is no Javi Moreno but Villa has to earn my respect, and he hasnt up to now. But knocking Inter will certainly do.:toast:

I guess I am just a pessimist. Out of all the possible teams that could have drawn, I cant but think Inter got away with relatively easy draw. Chelski would surely wipe them out of the competition, and Lyon, being the underdog status, could have had good crack at Neazzuri. They got a team whom they found it comfortable in the past, and probably out do them in terms of talent as well. I am just gutted.

I just watched the drawing of the knockout rounds. The look of absolute relief and glee on the faces of the Barca representatives when Roma drew Lyon - priceless.

I'm surprised at how scared Barca was of Lyon. Rikjaard, Zambrotta, Deco, Marquez, and Messi listed Lyon as the most dangerous of all teams they could face.

I hope Lyon and Barca meet in the final, with Lyon winning. :toast:

Lyon is seriously good, I agree. But actually I felt playing against big team might have been better IMO (though not Barca). Being a favorite and with pressure to win is different, when you can relax and take it in as they come. That is why winning at big stage consistently is extremely hard even with big players all that.
I think Roma is a big test for Lyon in many ways, and if they do go through, then I think the team is there for a long time.

Let's hope for all the Italian teams to get knocked out. There are actually good chances for that to happen. I give Lyon 65%, Celtic 50% and Valencia (at full strength) 55% to go through.

What is in there for Juve?

3 CL places in Europe?

Anyway my bet is that two of the teams will go through and one being knocked out. I actually have a feeling the team going out might be Milan. Celtic plays with heart and passion, and I feel on the weakness Italian teams are they are not comfortable with high paced style with balls flying through every second. That is why I give Roma and Inter big edge than most do in their matches. Italians are as good as any when teams are engaged in tactical battles & techniques.

As much as I hate Carew, I feel he may play big role in Roma match. His presence might break the shape of Italians.

As much as you hate Ibra and now Carew too? Let me guess, you're not a very tall guy am I right? :D
Anyway, I'm not sure Carew will be given a starting spot ahead of Fred come February.

oh, and if villareal could beat inter, so can valencia. current form means nothing cause games are in february.

real vs bayern could be a historical match on the paper, but i just feel that THIS bayern hasnt enough qualitys to beat real. anything is possible in football though.

note:
Villa scored 15 goals with Zaragoza when they were terrible
he later on scored 25 goals the next season

Ibra:
Scored 16 goals with Juventus(Juventus>>>>>Zaragoza)
He then scored 7 goals:disagree:

who's the better player?

Buffon scored 0 goals his entire career. Manfredini of Lazio has scored a couple of times (I'm almost sure :D). Who's the better player? :disagree:
