Just think about this.

You wouldn't let your 16 year old son move to another country to work for Dell or another company. Like it or not being a football is a 24/7 JOB , matches training etc, nobody under the age of 18 is aloud to work in the conditions of a footballer, thats why i fucking hate Wenger, only 18+ in the senior game plz
that brings up the problem in Africa, where poor families often send off their sons with dubious "agents" who promise them money and a chance for their sons, but any of them don't pay anything to the parents, and the kids never get proper training or any benefits that they would get form a real agent. When it is the big clubs coming in for a player in Africa, I must say that I don't have any problem with the player and family being given money and being brought to Europe, when the player isn't with a club, and the family is often in poverty.
Of course, there's a big difference when the player is getting trained by a local club in France (or anywhere), have made an investment in the player, and a bigger club comes, offering money and perks to the player and his family, and pay peanuts in compensation. That's simply wrong. But sometimes it can be very difficult for a family making little money to resist the offers of free housing, jobs, salaries, etc, in return for their son leaving his local academy and joining Manu's (or any clubs) academy in England

From the point of view of the youngster.

I am 16
one of the biggest/richest clubs in the world want to sign me
I can train with world class, famous players
I will train in a state of the art training facility
I will be coached by a great/sucessful man
Girls will want me just because I play for a big club
I will get thousands of Euros a week

Difficult choice.

And one more thing:
Out of all the other young players here, maybe 1 of whom will have a successful career if he's lucky, I have been chosen and it may very well be my only chance.

So I don't think the argument really is that these young players are abused, it's that their clubs don't get compensated fairly. Suppose you could sign any 15 year old in the world you wanted, but based on his success years later you would have to compensate his ex-club according to some specific rules. That could work.

A very good idea.
Perhaps a fixed % of any future selling of said player, for the investment the club have made in him.

Well, if ManU never sell Macheda then Lazio would never get anything. But you could say that if, just for arguments sake, he becomes a player for Italy, ManU owes 15m. Or something like that.

that's definitely true, but there also needs to be a different method by which a club is compensated when a young player leaves without actually breaching his contract. Too often a player is bought for a couple hundred thousand euros, when his market value is several million

I don't understand how this can happen. Other French clubs like Lens, Le Havre, etc are moaning because some of English clubs (Chelsea, Arsenal, MU, M. City) steal their youth talent. That because the French clubs can't make contract offer for teenager under some age.

But in that article Lyon steal several talents from another French club and especially Maher from AZ Alkmaar who is just 15 years old and give them contract. How can Lyon do that?

The English should be made to raise the age at which a player can be under contract, to the same as the rest of Europe.

Problem sorted.
 though as Martin said i feel it si not the players that are being abused but teh poor clubs who rely on youth to function

where did you mention Lens in your initial post...you took a theoretical PoV about the issue, not specific to a particular team/situation
you mentioned kakutas living conditions why can't i mention the club?

Look, all I'm saying is that its unethical for a company to get an under 18 to emigrate to work for them.

That happens in every country.
yea and it's basically the same situation, a bigger club poaching a young talent from the smaller team...the soltution needs to be across all levels, not just between English clubs

you mentioned kakutas living conditions why can't i mention the club?

I hope the Kakuta family doesn't have that kind of tough life, I was just creating a hypothetical situation of a young, not so well off African youngster

it is unethical but you have to be realistic as well
