Villa captain Martin Laursen retires

Villa are sad to announce Martin Laursen's retirement from football.

The club captain made the decision after being faced with another lengthy spell on the sidelines.

He elected to hang up his boots rather than undergo another major operation - this time on his right knee.

The retirement of the lionheart defender will be a huge loss to the players, the manager and the fans.

Despite limping along parts of the season, due to their lacking midfield, they were still the best team without any doubt. So big congrats to this immense quality team. Seriously, Pool is beyond embarrassing, to think last time they won their 18th title, Man U had 7, and now Man U equalled them with 18

Got to laugh at the Liverfool.

If Benitez had used Robbie Kean well and with tact, then who knows what might have been.
