Emo snubs Scudetto showdown Wednesday 16 March, 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Juventus ace Emerson doesn’t believe that the May 8 clash against Milan will decide the destiny of the title.

Both clubs are currently joint top of Serie A, with the Week 35 clash already being billed as the Scudetto showdown.

But the former Roma midfielder believes nothing will be decided until the last kick of the season.

"It’s tough to make a prediction of who will win the championship," he said. "Ourselves and Milan are very similar.

"I fear the game between us won’t be decisive either. The Scudetto could easily be decided on the last day of the season."

Most neutrals see Milan as slight favourites given that they seemingly have a bigger and better squad than the Bianconeri.

"I don’t think that is true," responded the Brazilian. "After all, you’ve seen what both Marcelo Zalayeta and Ruben Olivera have done recently."

The latter netted the only goal of the game at Chievo on Sunday, while Zalayeta scored the winner in the Champions’ League against Real Madrid.

"That victory helped us with our morale," added Emerson. "It was an important win against one of the best teams in the world."

Juventus are next in action on Saturday against Reggina and the South American doesn’t want any surprises.

"It will be a difficult tie," he insisted. "Reggina have some good players. If we want to finish the season in first then there is only one result which will do…"

He doesn't really mean that and he certainly isn't the first person to make a statement like that. I'm sure everyone in both the Juve and Milan camps know that this game will have serious title implications.

this win could be important, ESP for the morale,
but its not going to be more important than any other win so far if milan wins again,
as emo said everything will be decided at the very end

Oh it's going to be important, extremely important. Those three points could decide who wins the Scudetto, no question.
Everything will be decided in the last day, but i agree Milan match could give us the answer...

Our fierciest competitors in the CL and Serie A r Milan, so every match is decided, not juz this alone. So to beat Milan we have to win every match we could if possible. If we win this game, as u said, it would be a boost to our morale.

No, it is important........if we are still tied on points by that time, it will be very crucial! The winner will then have a 3 point advantage into the last 4 games or so and therefore will be in pole position...

It’s just like any other match
What is so special about it as long as the 3 points are the target for both of them?
it will be difficult for both of them specially if the points difference remain nil which means we r going to a see a highly tactical match without any entertainment
