he denied those words later via twitter. German media invented those words.
He backtracked and said he was misquoted. He was recently quoted saying he would walk to Juventus I am pretty sure, his coach said his mind is elsewhere and just recently his agent said although nothing is done the deal could be closed by Tuesday. It would not take that much.
Ah ok. I hope we seal the deal then, but i trust marotta with my life to fuck this up.

dp, vucinic, matri and quag are strikers

estig and gia are leftwing

amauri, iaquinta are here because we cant sell them
toni is a reserve
There are 2 kinds of strikers/forwards, the ones who score finishers/CF and the ones who create chances for themselves and fancy dribble.
All the above mentioned forward are fancy dribblers that create chances for themselves but are NOT prolific enough to be considered finishers.
Vieri, Inzaghi, Covacevic and Trezequet were finishers, they couldnt dribble as good as DP, but they were better finishers.

I had thisdiscussion before with Allen, when we were signing Amauri, i said that we need a DP successor before a traze replacement, due to age and since we bought Iaq, who is not such a good finisher but his workrate makes him a decent support striker, we would rather need a good finisher and Amauri is more known for his mini-drogba rumors, as the striker who creates chance for himself.

History proved me right yet again, with Amauri failing to score for more than a year!
So these 2 are out of the equation, DP is a great scorer skills indeed, but he is a player wearing number 10 and a player that defines that role in the modern future, this number is typical given to the SS (Baggio,Totti) not the finisher (Ronaldo, Vieri)

Matri is more of a hybrid, he has more SS characteristics (dribbling, creating chances, pass) but he is he young enough to develop into a finisher, but he needs to become more prolific and start scoring about 18-22/season.
Giaccherini is reported as a forward/SS in most of the sites and ppl who saw him label him as such
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emanuele_Giaccherini

So as it stands we only have SSs that can play as target men, but are not prolific enough to be considered finishers, (none of them scored in the career more than 18 goals didnt they?)
As for Amauri and Toni be considered as players ready to go, Marotta should consider this before perma signing Quaq AND Matri AND Vucinic AND Giacche.
He ought to give priority to the sale of Iaq and Amauri before brining in a new forward, esp a new SS!!!

Toni is the only real finisher we have in our squad.

It's always like that though, but the hate Elia receives is rather extreme really. The same people who say he's absolute garbage are fans of Krasic or say Pasquato is quite a bit better than him. I doubt Elia will be less effective than Krasic if he arrives. He's no top player, but he's not that bad either.
Hmm... are we talking about Krasic during the first half of last year? Or during the second half (when the whole team went to shit, and the guy had been playing for something like 18 months straight)?

I don't really rate players based on their performances during exhibition games, especially when there's a new coach, a bevy of new players, and a new (or modified) system being employed. As this team gains balance, as the understanding between the players improves, I think Krasic's game will bounce back - provided the fans don't jump all over him.

From what I've seen of him, I doubt that Elia would have the kind of impact that Krasic had during the first half of last season (if he arrives at all), but if he did that would be outstanding.

Matri is definitely a Toni type of striker. Someone who scores, doesn't create, doesn't really dribble. Last season he scored 20 goals and made 1 assist. He never plays SS.
According to him everyone in our team is SS , i hate his SS theory :sergio: .
