You kinda forgot Dzeko (32m eur), Gomez (30-35m eur), Diego (24.5m eur). :D

It's true though that the Bundes teams were in general selling the players for lower fees than the teams from the other big leagues. But the three names above show that things are slowly changing and it's gonna be hard to buy top quality from Germany anymore for fees lower than 20 million eur.
dzeko was only so expensive because of man city and gomez was so expensive because it was a transfer to a direct opponent (stuttgart to bayern)... in my list i only had tranfers from german clubs to foreign clubs and you see the majority was really on the cheap side... overpaying idiots like secco or man city do not really coun't as general rule, do they ?
otherwise you could say strikers are very expensive to get from england, because man u got 90m for c. ronaldo ...

Since the topic is on Goetze and Virtual is here I have a few questions:

1.) Why is Bierhoff apparently urging Italian clubs to sign him and not telling Spanish/English clubs?
2.) Realistically, what major clubs would "need" him? Real/City already seemed stacked for players in his role, same for Barca?
3.) What is being said in Germany about him leaving and why? Do Dortmund need to sell?
4.) Would this be in January or Summer? What are the rumors saying?

Forza Elia, I'd hate to use him already in a transfer and would MUCH rather it be Krasic.

Cammie, Bierhoff has a love relationship with Italy ever since his udinese & milan days.
I guess that answers my question. :D

I can't help but ponder there being another reason, though. Does he think Italy soccer would suit him more or something?

For winter, we need a CB first. This has gotta be a summer thing, cuz I doubt he'll come to us while we haven't reached CL yet and still have so many options on the bench. I actually doubt he'll come at all tbh.

True. If that Dede thing works out this winter then step 1 is complete. Step 2 is clearing the dead weight for further investments. Step 3...further investments:D

Could be bs or it could be a tactic used to create interest in the boy for a handsome transfer fee. There's a lot of money under the table that goes on in football that we aren't aware of.

1) i can only guess that bierhoff has still fond memories of italy and so he would probably like götze to have the same good experience in italy. i don't think anyone in england or spain would be interested in the opinion of bierhoff. he spend the most successful time in italy so its probably there where he would be most recogned as football guy with some knowledge

2) in german there is only one major club and that is bayern ... the problem with dortmund at the moment is that it is pretty similar to arsenal in the past i think. i think that players might look good in that system but might pretty much fail to show the same level of performance elsewhere. i am not saying that götze is of bad quality, but the system dortmund play does pretty much nullify his lack of physique. i bet giovinco would also be flourishing at dortmund, because the fast passing game with pretty few time on the ball (per player) does prevent their players from getting muscled of the ball. of course götze is not as small as giovinco (götze is 5"9 or something) but it remains to be seen how he plays in another system which demands more physical contribution. bayern actually don't need götze because they have enough talent and every other club in germany would be a step down from bvb/dortmund... i can not judge the other clubs outside germany who would need a quick trequartista/second striker style midfielder actually

3) götze is really a humble kid and i don't see him leaving if dortmund achieve consecutive champions league qualification (which seems götzes focus right now). dortmund don't need to sell and his contract runs until 2014 so there is no chance to get him on the cheap for now.

4) there are actually no rumours of him leaving... when rumors pop up, it's about clubs interested in him, but none of them have any foundation to say götze would want to leave.

Interesting stuff, V. Thanks

About his physical side. We said the same things about Giovinco a few years ago and albeit he didn't grow an inch :)D), he has put on a few pounds. This Goetze kid is still in puberty so I am sure he will put some pounds on easily in the next 2 years I'd say,

This guy never plays ever or what? not even for his NT

What a lot of money wasted!
he was offload from the nt because he never plays

but according to nick he trains very good now and probably will get his 'proper' change in the team
