And nobody will ever be anything near Del Piero but we can at least try to get a fairly good replacement ability wise like gotze etc

Mario Gotze is the German Messi, I doubt we could get him for 20 mil € + Krasic. His price is 40 mil € + and Krasic is not the player Dortmund would like.

Also nice to hear Elia is working hard in training, I am very skeptical but just maybe he can still turn it around and repay Juve for the faith given.

the thing is, that german clubs are not used to very high transfer fees... so the probability of getting götze for less than 30m is pretty high. there just needs to be a situation where the club (dortmund) has to decide between selling him to a direct opponent (german team) or us and we would make the bet if we don't pay substantial less money... 25 + a player they need would be enough imo... just look for what money other players went to foreign clubs ... the list is long and the price always was less than for brazilian prodigies for example.

berbatov went away for 15 m€ (a very low price for a striker just compare that what we payed for quag or matri... not saying berba is better)
juan went away for 6 m € to roma ... can you imagine what we would need to pay roma for him ?
david odonker went away for 6 m € ... this is pretty cheap for a winger that was hyped up after his displays for the german national squad (as attacking players are always more expensive)
rosicky was sold for 10m €
rafinha for 8 m €
rakitic for 2 m €
lincoln for 5 m € (was schalkes top playmaker at that time)
lucio for 7 m € to inter
santa cruz for 5 m€

from an economical standpoint it would be very sensible to buy from german clubs

Most of those of those players left at a time when the Bundesliga was not as strong as it is now, though.

The problem with a player like Gotze would be the inevitable interest from England (and maybe Spain).

all listed transfers are post-2006/calciopoli ... so germany was already regarded higher than italy in most non-italian eyes
i don't see much speculation about götze from england or spain so this might be the right moment to strike ... bierhoff saying it would be good business might be a hint that it is not to late to get him without much competition because most english or spanish clubs might see him as one-season-wonder.

From 2006 onwards, Germany was seen as a league on the up, while Serie A was on the way down.

However, I'd say it was probably not until about 2009 that most people would actually say the Bundesliga ovetook Serie A.

Yeah, I'm not sure where he'd go in Spain.

Arsenal and Man Utd are meant to be interest, but don't know how accurate those reports are.

Are Bayern after him or are they more focused on Reus?

there are no real rumours about a bayern interest. götze said that he has worked out a plan with his agent that sees him playing continually in the champions league ... so before we secured that we can forget it... let's just hope dortmund will not get to the top 4 this season so the probability of him staying would at least be lower..

dortmund are still building him up to become a better player and gladly don't over-use him.

he played 10 games, got 4 goals and 4 assists so far even though he was subbed off in 6 of those games (i am pretty sure to prevent him being burnt out to early)

You kinda forgot Dzeko (32m eur), Gomez (30-35m eur), Diego (24.5m eur). :D

It's true though that the Bundes teams were in general selling the players for lower fees than the teams from the other big leagues. But the three names above show that things are slowly changing and it's gonna be hard to buy top quality from Germany anymore for fees lower than 20 million eur.
