Going by your logic, F1 drivers are pussies, when in reality the G forces their body withstand over a race, as well as their heart rate, place them as the most in shape athletes around, despite "only" sitting in a car, and tightening their muscles every now and than.
To rank athletes in terms of who is more physically fit is impossible. They train their bodies for the rigors unique to their sport. Any1 who has played seasonal sports has felt this.
Phelps wouldn't last a football match and a footballer wouldn't last a swim race. Phelps leg's wouldn't be used to stop and go sprint's. There is a huge difference between propelling yourself off concrete/grass and propelling yourself through water. His joints would not be used to the pounding either.
