yeah because it was a day after we got Vlahovic lol of course it would be calm. There’d be a lot more hype if it was the only move, or at least the first one.
Mayb ur right, Vidal was the biggest transfer back then and the whole idea of winning a transfer battle with Bayern was something that sparked the fans.
Anyway though does it really matter? lets just hope Zakaria can become similiar player for us and i think he has all the right tools to at least be close to what Vidal was for us.

"For sure, Juventus is an important step forward in my career, I will have the desire to become stronger and to improve. If I have to look to the future, today is certainly only one step. Pogba? We all know him, we know what he did here. I hope for sure to have the same success. I have my own identity, I hope to find my own path and leave a mark here".

Vidal scored 13 goals-11 assists, had 4.7 tackles, 2.8 interceptions/game in his last season at Leverkusen before he arrived....
those stats are simply incredible, no one else could even come close to those numbers. firmino in his last season at hannover had some impressive defensive numbers for an attacker, i couldn't name any other player since these detailed opta stats are available. prime vidal was an alien, a true 2-in-1 player. more than 7 tackles + interceptions, i mean wtf  that's the best game of any season for bentancur or emre can, and vidal produced these over multiple seasons in average, shieeet

Maybe true but I still don’t remember Vidal having any more expectations than Zakaria, which is what this whole argument is about anyway. Both are/were good young players but I don’t think anyone would’ve guessed Vidal becoming what he did at Juve. He would’ve went to a better club if so.
Yes. He would have went to Bayern, but Leverkusen didn't sell to them.

Vidal also was arguably the best midfielder in the league in his last season before we signed him.

Buli viewers knew what a great deal it was for us. My friend who happens to he a bayern fan was pissed as fuck.

I think Pogba might be the more apt comparison.Came on a free transfer no expectations rather than vidal who certainly was the best box to box midfielder in bundesliga at that time.
Pogba was a huge talent. He was highly rated by French football followers and even people closely associated with United. It's just that SAF thought he was indisciplined and lazy.

Besides he came in as a teen. Zakaria is almost in his mid 20s. The Pogba comparison doesn't fly either.

I expect Zakaria to be useful given that he's not that young either but it remains to be seen if he can make a strong enough impact to consider him as a long term starter.

Honestly his potential was insane and he could have been one of the very very best in history. Shame with all the off field problems etc.

Him being a hothead and playing with enormous passion is what makes him great but it's also part of his Problems. Complex character. It's a shame he didnt stay with us, to this day i feel the midfield never recovered after he left.

I'm not sure. His last season here was average. Still good but definitely not the same Vidal before his knee injury. He played like drunk in UCL final too.
I think it was the right time to sell him.

The problem is the management don't use his sale and Pogba sale to invest in quality MF.
And opted for free Khedira and Matuidi instead.
IMO the biggest loss in MF was Marchisio injury. He was enjoying his role as regista and a real leader in midfield. We would never cry for shitty MF that unable to keep the ball for years if he still playing until now

I truly believe that peak Vidal is a top player in history. The level he reached was insane. Basically a destroyer that gave you 15-20 goals. It's insane.

A CM destroyer that wins Copa America and leads the tournament in goals. When you look at his career, he has more goals + assists than fucking Iniesta and Yaya Toure.

I know what you mean though. He could have been a top, top legend of the sport.

Agreed on bolded part.

Marchisio was great and a legend for us, however i would argue prime Vidal was a different animal
