if there are rasist outbursts there will be big fines, expulsion from the competition i don't believe in, cause quite honestly that would be unfair in so many degrees. like sateeh said, stuff like that happen week in & out in spain, germany...

there were no problems so far, i don't think the majority of the fans came yet. most will come today i think. while i was walking to work this morning i noticed preparations were already in place, the area around the stadium is already being marked, policeman are there, soon they'll be on every corner. few more hours and the streets will be jam packed. hope everything goes smoothly.

One private question, Vlatko?

If you re working every day in the morning, how do you find time for Juventuz.com? :D

great article reb ;) i love this part about my former idol:
And on his staff are some of the old favourites from the great 1998 Croatia team, including the now portly Robert Prosinecki, who smokes more cigarettes than a harassed rock band roadie.

I heard recently that he plays amateur football in a lower division Club.
Prosinečki currently plays for Savski Marof in one of the Croatian fourth division leagues (the Jedinstvena županijska liga).

Croatian ace Robert Kovac insists he will play fair in his quest to stop Wayne Rooney.

Rooney ran rings around Kovac and the rest of the Croat defence the last time they faced the Manchester United starlet in Euro 2004 as he scored twice in a 4-2 victory in Lisbon.

Kovac, though, is confident he can do a much better job on Rooney this time around.

"I will try to stop him scoring but any provocation is not fair and not sportsmanlike. I don't play that way," insisted Kovac.

"In Euro 2004, Rooney was younger and I didn't know that much about him. He surprised me with the level of his play.

"Now I know him better and I believe I am up to the challenge.

"He is very explosive and has a dangerous shot and he is not afraid to go man-to-man.

"All I can do is stick close to him, close him down and stop him getting to the ball. I will be better than him."

Police detain 21 Croatia and England fans after skirmish
    Wed Oct 11, 2006 12:25 PM BST

ZAGREB, Oct 11 (Reuters) - Croatian police detained 21 fans after overnight skirmishes in Zagreb city centre ahead of Wednesday's Euro 2008 qualifier between Croatia and England.

"A total of 21 fans, 16 Croatian and five English, were detained after the clashes," police said in a statement.

"Police prevented serious fighting after moving in swiftly to separate the rival fans and closed down the area," it said.

Fighting broke out in a central Zagreb street packed with bars and a nearby restaurant where most England fans gathered on Tuesday evening.

Daily newspaper Sportske Novosti said Croatian fans threw bottles and a fire extinguisher at the England supporters, who responded by hurling chairs at them.

There were no signs of trouble on Wednesday as large groups of England fans gathered at Zagreb's main square and mingled with the home supporters.

Many of them took photos of each other and signed a giant England flag fans had spread across the square.

Riot police have been deployed in numbers to prevent any crowd trouble ahead of kickoff at 1700 GMT and said fans would be separated well before they reach the stadium.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    so far, so good.

Yeah, Ronney and Scholes gave our defenders a runaround back then.

But Kovac looks more reliable now.
