this is something that happens week in week out in spain and now even in Germany. I didnt see any heavy sanctions occuring there. This is total BS they know they can't do anything against the big countries thats why they go for the smaller ones.
yeah this is bs, but what can you do. still our supporters have themselves to blame, it's sad actually cause a group of 200 can make such a mess out of things in no time, this is exactly what is happening with croatia. you have a group that starts shit like this and the whole country gets screwed. we have amazing supporters, which the whole world saw at the wc, but we also have these groups that are rasist, stupid and ignorant. there's no stopping it unfortunatelly.

yeah i know wonderful supporters, just great.Even the croatian societies in here r soo passionate about football and about their teams. Actually both sides could be illustrated from the fans in here(the trouble makers and the absolutely great ones)

Anyway i wanted to share this. How come the English always blame their problems on other ppl.

Wigan chairman Dave Whelan has blamed Sven-Goran Eriksson for Wayne Rooney's slump in form, branding the former England boss an "idiot".

The 20-year-old has struggled so far this season and looks short of match-sharpness after serving suspensions at club and international level.

Whelan traces the problem back to Rooney's dismissal in the World Cup quarter-final against Portugal, when the Manchester United star was sent off for stamping on Ricardo Carvalho, having been played up front on his own by Eriksson.

The Latics chief told The Sun: "The manager we had (Eriksson) absolutely killed him.

"You just hope his enthusiasm hasn't been killed by that idiot. I watched the Portugal game in the World Cup and felt so sorry for him. (Eriksson) played him up front on his own and he so wanted to do well but was desperate.

"He was fighting like hell for the ball but they had two men on him and that was it, game over. Then he got sent off but that was just because he was fighting and running so much. Rooney was pulling his guts out for England. The previous manager killed him stone dead."

cause they ALWAYS hype themselves sky high, i guess they gotta blame someone. that's one thing i'll never understand, why do they do that, it's like a complex, they think they are so good and they always manage to screw it up. i remember theo walcott, man that was just funny, they talked so much about him i thought that guy was some phenomenon, i'll be damned if ericsson wasn't forced to bring him to the wc, just so that he could live up to the hype at least a little.

i'll never, ever, understand brittish media.

nobody will....Well there is a reason why they only have one WC(a controversial one) and no European championship(cuz its much harder).

They should put things into perspective once in a while and they would do well.

Well England really killed Eriksson so fuck Rooney. He was a god in Lazio and respected all over the planet. Now what? He'll probably end up coaching some team in Allsvenskan. : >

They should stick to English coaches. Mourinho have said he is interested in that job, I wonder if they could fuck him up as well.

Here is another reason to support Croatia this time:

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Bilic's vision

Croatia coach Slaven Bilic took a football sabbatical and searched out two of the game's top managers in Arsenal's Arsene Wenger and former Italy and Juventus boss Marcello Lippi in a bid to learn the finer arts of his profession.

He is now trying to inspire a revival in his national team's fortunes and, in order to do so, has also enlisted the help of Croatia's golden generation of footballers, who finished third at the 1998 World Cup in France.

Bilic was part of the sublime, skilful and solid ensemble of eight years ago and has sought out several of his team-mates since taking over as national team boss after the World Cup in July, which followed a spell in charge of his nation's under-21 squad.

"It is obvious that we did a good job for the under-21s otherwise the Croatian Football Association would not have appointed me," Bilic told BBC Sport ahead of the Euro 2008 qualifier against England on Wednesday.

"When I took over I just wanted to make my team so I took Aljosa Asanovic, Marjan Mrmic - as a goalkeeping coach - and Robert Prosinecki from that generation and we also had another couple of them taking over the under-21s.

"It is a better way because we can understand the players more as we are almost the same generation and you can still keep your authority
    ."

The journey that former West Ham and Everton centre-back Bilic has taken to his present role has almost been a pilgrimage from which he has emerged with a clearer and more focused vision for his team.

He underwent coaching courses after being forced to quit the game in 2000 because of a hip injury and his journey began when he left his role as manager of Hadjuk Split.

"I was at Hadjuk Split for a year and then I quit because I wanted to take some time to go abroad to watch the fashions of good managers," explained the 38-year-old.

"I was in Juventus with Marcello Lippi and Arsenal with Arsene Wenger.

"I wanted to go to the managers that I respect the most to see their ways of training and talk to them about their philosophy.

"It only proved to me that my way of thinking was good and I took a couple of months to think about things and then said to myself that I was going to try it and would try very hard
    .

"Since then it has all gone well."

Bilic believes England will give his side their biggest test on home soil when the two nations meet this week.

"It is by far the biggest game for Croatia," added Bilic. "We used to have teams like Italy and Sweden in past qualification groups but we have never had such a great opponent that is coming to Croatia.

"There is a lot of excitement in Croatia. England are one of the best teams in Europe and in the qualification groups we have never had as a big a game as this against Croatia.

"We respect England like everyone else but that does not mean we are afraid of them
    ."

Asanovic, was he in the 98 Wc ?

A juventino, good on ur team Vlat..they chose someone who worked with the best
asanovic? of course, he was perhaps our best midfield player in that wc, made some key passes.

yeah bilic is great, i have high hopes for him, he knows how to work with the squad. learned from the best, like you said. though i didn't know that part he worked with marcello lippi and arsene wenger.

Isnt it strange that Bilic thinks that England is such a great opponent?

    I mean, on what basis?!

As far as I know, Italy is a much more greater opponent.

For God sake, they are WC champions!

    Italy = 3 EURO titles + 4 WC titles > England = 1 WC title

So I fail to realise how are the English greater opponents?!

Vlatko, do you think that UEFA will be so harsh on Croatia like they said if our supporters make problems?

And BTW how were English supporters at he end of yesterday evening?

I heard on the news at 8.00 PM yesterday that they were quite good and peaceful.

    exactly.

i just read a article describing yesterday's english press conference. jesus, their press made us look like hitler's germany, not a country that's "close" to entering the EU.

I see, well that is good for a change.

I mean, Croatia team was always too self-confident and sometimes arrogant, and they sometimes underestimated opponents giving ridicolous statements.

Then they would be ashamed of themselves after a bad result.

It is good that they respect every opponent now. :agree:

if there are rasist outbursts there will be big fines, expulsion from the competition i don't believe in, cause quite honestly that would be unfair in so many degrees. like sateeh said, stuff like that happen week in & out in spain, germany...

there were no problems so far, i don't think the majority of the fans came yet. most will come today i think. while i was walking to work this morning i noticed preparations were already in place, the area around the stadium is already being marked, policeman are there, soon they'll be on every corner. few more hours and the streets will be jam packed. hope everything goes smoothly.
