lol what is your standard for breathtaking? no of course messi cant leap 9 feet in the air because he isnt physically capable of it but he can dribble an entire top level professional team and chip their GK without breaking a sweat.

id say thats pretty spectacular.

Messi is the GOAT
Messi at most has dribbled 3-4 players..maybe 5 if you include his goal against Getafe 13 years ago (and that’s counting the goalkeeper). Ordinarily, he’d dribble 1-2 players in one go MAX in a regular match. Not 9 lol.

Ironically, Ronaldo used to dribble players plentifully too in his younger years. In fact, a common criticism of him during his native years at United was that he dribbled too much (a stark contrast to the modern day Ronaldo), usually beating a player and then going back to beat him again. He did it with flair and tricks too compared to Messi’s simplistic style. So Ronaldo has been able to match some of the things Messi has done while Messi has never scored towering headers like Ronaldo neither has he showcased the incredible physical prowess needed to execute an insane bicycle kick like Ronaldo did against us.

Messi has also effectively been the same player for his entire career. Ronaldo has had various evolutions. He started off as a marauding touchline RM in a 4-4-2 which he played to a world class level between 06-09. From 09-14 he exploded as a LW in Real Madrid’s ultra-offensive counterattacking set-up. Then he’s undergone a few more evolutions to adapt to the effects of aging and the different teams and styles he’s been apart of and has still maintained his level. Messi has never had to make as many adaptations as Ronaldo to suit his team as he’s been at the same club his entire career. He’s simply rotated between the false 9 and RF positions in a 4-3-3. The system has hardly been changed drastically...just the personnel slightly.

The bullshit I read here is too much. Messi has not been the same player his whole career. He used to play back, then he moved up front, now he plays both mid and attack.

He’s also gotten to become the best free kicker in the world.

He also pulls players and opens up room for his teammates like no one else can. Who the fuck is counting how many players in a row he’s dribbling through? This isn’t a video game, it’s clear only Messi can do the shit Messi does

Messi’s evolution as a player, strictly from a positional sense, has been lesser than Cristiano’s. The latter went from being a traditional winger to a traditional poacher. Messi has always played in that midfield/forward hybrid zone, although over the years he has moved forward up.

Having said that, Messi is is an absolute dream to watch. No one in the modern game can do things on the pitch that he can. But he has a tendency of cracking under pressure, unlike Cristiano who just gets better with more at stake.

Plus he doesn’t play for Juventus. So screw that choking garden gnome.

Fine.

Messi has scored 12 goals in 19 games vs. Italian teams.
Against English teams he has scored 22 goals in 30 games (setting up another six).

Go on and nitpick every one of those teams and tell me how this isn't impressive.
Who da fook is that. Shut da fook up.

messi spent 10% of his energy dribbling through his farmers league and then store enough energy to play well against italian teams (which is not world class either) and English teams.
And yes, he scored twice against juve in a game that doesn’t matter. Against us without chiellini and we were going through bad farmer standard performance during that period as well.

If CR7 played in spanish farmers la liga all his career, we would probably doubt his true capability. But, like a true champchamp, he stood up and took over EPL and SERIE A and won Euro.

sad to say, but Messi’s biggest success (dribbling through Farmers league ) is also his biggest failure.

Please do not insult Garden Gnomes. They step up to the game under pressure and keep your gardens safe.

when faced with failures or pressure, messi hide behind alphas like Higuain who takes all the shiet and emerge into a defenders-eating Monster, destined to lead us to ECC glory.

Can do or isn't able to do anything else, depends how you look at it.

Messi didn't use to play anywhere else than up front and it's a fact. It's more like that he plays where the ball is, except when it's in his own zone because he's never been able to track back except when Pep was in charge and he demanded it literally from everybody. Nowdays, someone else is running those km's in behalf of him, he's always 100% recovered, more focused, more ready to get something done than his opponents who are most likely little bit exhausted. It's not a lie, all the star players get certain freedoms but Messi has taken it to whole another level and him being able to play in the middle where it requires most stamina out of any players, he will never be able to do it - never. So you saying he plays in the middle is in fact him being in center of the game because it just simply doesn't make any sense for him to be above the game as his physical presence up there is literally useless.

So yes, this isn't a video game but giving him video game stats in real life with 99 stamina to play in the middle isn't reality either.

Diego Simeone: “You can take Cristiano Ronaldo to a war and he’ll win it for you all alone, for Lionel Messi you need to bring all of his Barcelona teammates so he could actually do something.”

good. This interview shows greatness on so many levels.
to refresh the noobs on this forum.

In 2019, Athletico whacked Juve 2-0 in first leg ECC with Simeone gesturing his balls in celebration. Two weeks later CR7 single handedly ASSAULTED athletics with 3-0 despite having matuidi in his team and he made an even bigger gesture to his balls to the fans.

simeone could only resign and admit CR7 is great.

fast forward now and Simeone is saying such great things about the GOAT.

shows that GOAT is actually GOD OF ALL TIMES. He can single handedly beat down an opponent t hard that the opponent cowers down and becomes his bitch, stroking his balls at any given opportunity.

They are both incredible players and I feel its a matter of preference, if you consider one better than another. What is it that you are enjoying in a game, Messi's dribbling miniatures, flair n fancy, Cr's flamboyance, never die attitude and incredible almost machine like day to day routine, while both have been ruthless in and around the box, with understanding of the game second to none. Im just grateful I could have seen them at their prime and for me they will go down as the most dominant players of all time. The sheer level of consistency these two displaying week in week out is astonishing. Long may they last.

No way this is real

Simeone is the biggest Messi mark of all time so I'll be surprised if he said something like that

Exactly! Messy is an attacking midfielder/playmaker who happens to be insanely good and score more goals than most strikers.

Ronaldo is a poacher. If he's not scoring he's doing nothing.
Considering Ronaldo finished each season between 10-20 assists at Madrid, and holds the all-time record for CL assists... this statement of yours is incredibly stupid. :baus:

The problem with Ronaldinho is that:

1. He was only at the top for 3 years
2. He was never much of a goalscorer

Messi has had the same longevity as Ronaldo, and scores the same number of goals as Ronaldo. In that case, style of play is the tiebreaker.
CL -Ronaldo 128 goals - 39 assists

Messi - 114 goals - 33 assists

But more importantly, CL knockout performances could also be seen as a tiebreaker in which Ronaldo has a massive advantage in goals and a smaller one in assists.

65 goals - 46 goals in the biggest European matches. It’s not even close.

14 assists - 12 assists in knockouts.

5 CL titles - 3 CL titles (2006 Messi didn’t even make an appearance after the Rof16)

Messi is king of the group stage though. :lol3:

All jokes aside, I rate them on a level, both as all-time greats, best of this generation by far, to join with the other all-time greats of previous generations. There’s no clear separation between them regardless of what some retarded fanboys say on either side.

No way a fellow Argentinian said something like that, he'd get executed :D
Not a all Argentinian are big fans of Messi tbh. He retired in the face of their criticism.
Imagine an Argentinian player whose showreel I’d his career is dribbling pass Farmers league in barca jersey and then retiring and turning his back on international Football in front of Argentinian media.

Messi is the Jason Kidd of Football, plus an addiction to turning his back on his nation simply due to pressure and lack of ‘iniestas’
