How and why did you decide to compare a striker to centerback?

I'm not arguing that Messi is better than Ronaldo. I'm explaining why most people think that he's better.
Exactly! Messy is an attacking midfielder/playmaker who happens to be insanely good and score more goals than most strikers.

Ronaldo is a poacher. If he's not scoring he's doing nothing.

The only reason people dislike Ronaldo has got to do with the arrogance and pompousness. Plus he played for ManUtd and Real, two clubs that are very easy to dislike even though they have a massive fanbase.

No one in their sane mind would dislike him for his ability on the pitch.

No one dislikes him for his ability for the pitch indeed, tho he has gotten less respect as overall ability player since he became lazer focused on specializing into a striker/poacher hybrid. He was more universally loved when he was a winger dazzling fans with flair and fancy skills. Ironically he became way more effective and lethal, insane impact, the less he decided to do on the pitch, but has gotten less attention for it/respect for it as overall player, but it was clearly worth it since he became consistently way more successful.

But yeah he is primarily disliked in small or bigger degrees for his selfish/ego maniac personality, that's generally what neutrals notice from him. Thats quite clear, everyone rates and respects his game, but not many are too fond of the actual guy. I know many Real Madrid fans, and I'm not kidding when I say they generally talk about missing Raul (obvious), few of the galacticos, even Özil to this day. But not a single one would say they miss Ronaldo, not because they dont madly appreciate the achievements and impact, but he didnt resonate with (fairly spoiled) fanbase in that way at all. He was super professional and smart player with insane ability, but he didnt actually become a favourite for most of them.

And that's fans he won everything for in near decade, can you imagine neutrals who can have petty reasons to dislike him etc.

And let's not be revisionistic either around here, besides the senseless Messi Ronaldo debate, most times Ronaldo was brought up here in Tuz before he joined us, was mostly to mock or joke about his ego or personality. Just comes with the territory of who he is.

Doesnt mean he isnt any less respect for probably finishing his career as the best European player of ALL time, imo surpassed all of them when push comes to shove.

Did this actually happen almost thought this was fake haha Messi trying to a be hard man with a kid. Good apprentice felix.

That is as real as it gets.

The kid did well... Alba was putting the finger in his face that shit is really disrespectful and triggering, the answer was adequate.

Then the garden gnome went to mess with Felix because he noticed that his days are over and knew he was facing the future Goat

Im assuming he wasn’t at the dinner to begin with. Surely image rights can’t prevent him from appearing in a simple team dinner photo. If they do, it’s pretty idiotic.

Messi is rated higher than Ronaldo because he’s more breathtaking to watch.

Ronaldo is the ultimate athlete, an excellent finisher and a very effective footballer.

Messi is a magician and a genius. He can dribble through the most congested spaces and can play passes other players cannot even imagine.

Ronaldo is just as effective as Messi, but he’s simply not as mesmerizing to watch. Messi’s style of play captures audiences in a way Ronaldo’s does not. That’s why he’s rated higher.
I disagree, Messi has never done anything close to as breathtaking as Ronaldo's bicycle goal.
