I think Capello should rest some players, seeing we have some tough Serie A matches coming up. I don't think Legro, Iuliano or Chimenti have played a single minute this season, while Ferrara and Montero haven't seen much playing time either. It could therefore be a good idea to rest Thuram and Canna and give some of these a chance. The same thing with Tacchi, Appiah and Kapo.

But even though this is "just coppa", I think we shouldn't underestimate this competition. Atalanta are a good team and will be eager to do well. We can definately win this match but shouldn't take things for granted...

Hey the kid Volpato is on the list, maybe Cappelo could give him a chance, I have heard he is quite good....
What about the other kids, does anybody knows something about them?

Wow, what a great squad :)

I'm glad we're resting a lot of our first team regulars. Hopefully we won't need to call on Blasi, Zlatan, Nedved or Thuram.

Looks like Capello's taking an extra precaution with Buffon :D

Capello finally rests our 1st team players in the end. Let's hope that he will do that for the Ajax game as well.

But I think that Zlatan deserves a rest as well. He has been playing for us for quite a bit of games. I'm scared that he will be worn out.

Capello opts for reserves
Thursday 18 November, 2004

Juventus will give some of their forgotten players a chance to impress in their Coppa Italia game.

The Bianconeri face Atalanta on Friday and boss Fabio Capello has confirmed that he will give his less-used squad members a chance.

"This is the right opportunity for people to illustrate their worth," the tactician said on Thursday.

"Fortunately my players all accept my decisions and those of the club without moaning.

"Up until now I’ve been rather lucky to have had so many players at my disposal, so it was inevitable that some wouldn’t feature very regularly. They will get their chance tomorrow."

Whispers suggest that Mark Iuliano and Nicola Legrottaglie will start in defence, while Olivier Kapo and Marcelo Zalayeta should be fielded in attack.

Although the tactician insists that the Italian Cup isn’t a priority, he’s eager to do well in the competition.

"The Coppa is undoubtedly a level below the Scudetto and the Champions’ League but we want to go as far as possible," added the former Roma boss.

Capello concluded by commenting on David Trezeguet, who will return to Italy on Friday to continue his rehabilitation from shoulder surgery.

"From what I can see there are no problems, everything is going as planned," he noted. Trez should be back in action by the middle of January.
