"“Following a problem with his left knee, which was the subject of surgery in 2016, Claudio Marchisio, accompanied by club doctor Dr Claudio Rigo, was put under clinical and instrumental tests by Dr Cugat in Barcelona,” it read.
“The need has since emerged for the player to undergo specific therapies and muscle-strengthening work.
“For this reason, he will not be available for the next 3-4 weeks.”"
Thats not an injury lol. Thats extended recovery. This is an actual thing in strenghtsports. I give an example
In benchpressing, when using proper form, your injuryprone point are the pectoralis majoris connections to the arms. When you try to go full progressive overload in your schedule, at some point you can start to experience pain. But if the muscle is strong and well maintained, it wont just snap. It will tear up.
You get one stroke of tearing. You rest and ice it. Next week or two, you use a slingshot which acts like a spring for the chest, lowering the stress levels, lowering the actual stress on the pecs when fully extended. Like this, you can keep training hard, and when your pain is gone for over a week, you can start to try without the slingshot again.
Same with Marchisio. Reading this, the damage his tendons and ligaments are suffering from preseason stressing, is too high compared to what his body can recover from. in order to prevent the ACL from tearing again when the damage is too high, he'll be but on strenghtening. if the ACL still cant keep up, they'll lower the stress loads and more strenghtening, which is why he's given 3-4 weeks off.

We need another CM cause what it actually means is that Marchisio wont be playing over 30 games this season
