A little trivia here for you all :D. Did you know that Marchisio was a support striker and modeled himself after Del Piero, all the way up till a coach changed him to a midfielder when he was 16 years old?

And another one.. Did you know that Marchisio has been with Juve since he was seven years old?

I knew he was born in Turin so I assumed he had been at the club from an early age.

Very few player other than keepers seem to stay in one position from when they are a youth to when they come into full team.

Marchisio joins Italy party

Juventus midfielder Claudio Marchisio is the new face in Italy's provisional 30-man squad for the UEFA European Under-21 Championship in the Netherlands.

Marchisio, 21, has played 22 games in Serie B with the Bianconeri. "Being called up by the U21s is a dream come true," he said. "Unfortunately I'm recovering from a slight injury but coach Pierluigi Casiraghi has told me not to worry about that. I hope to convince him to take me to the Netherlands."

AS Roma midfielder Alberto Aquilani, 22, returns to the fold after recovering from the knee problem which has forced him to miss the majority of the season. The five-time U21 champions are in Group B with Serbia, England and the Czech Republic. Casiraghi will cut his squad to 23 players on 30 May.

Interview with Marchisio .

so why did paro always play and not marchisio ?
Not lately. Besides, at the beginning of the season, both Zanetti and Giannicedda were available, hence, Deschamps had multi choices regerding who would partner who in the centre midfield. Also, Paro has more experience than Marchisio, thus, it would be normal for Deschamps to prefer the former, at least, at the beginning of the season.

And Dominic, thanks for the valuable info. :pint:

He said he want to stay in Juve in the next season . in the Primavera he scored a few goals , also he was the one who always take the PKs but until now he didn't score any goal , but that's not a proplem because Juve have DP and Treze to score goals . he also said what Dominic said about when he was a striker .

I really hope he gets in the final squad of the Azzurini it will do wonders to him in the Long run.

Its a long shot especially with that midfield but hope he can make that final squad.

Gazzetta call Marchisio the revelation of our season, which he deserves. He's been playing 90 minutes of game after game recently. Especially impressive, when partnered by Giannichedda or Zanetti.

What do you all think the future will hold for him? Is he ready to be a vital part of our midfield? Will he be 'just' a squad player next season? Or would you loan him out?

What you think

Please discuss.

no to a loan. Keep him in the squad. He has proven himself quite useful. I don't think that he should be automatic first choice, but I think that if called up he can step and give his best when asked to play every few matches.

Marchisio definately has to stay. He is our best youngster so far, he has a complete skill set and has proved himself in Serie B. I don't think he will be a starter next season, but I hope he continues to improve. He is still very young and needs time to grow. I really have big hopes for this kid.
