Gazzetta call Marchisio the revelation of our season, which he deserves. He's been playing 90 minutes of game after game recently. Especially impressive, when partnered by Giannichedda or Zanetti.

What do you all think the future will hold for him? Is he ready to be a vital part of our midfield? Will he be 'just' a squad player next season? Or would you loan him out?

What you think

Please discuss.
He deserves all the praise he got imo, from the first game he came in he did well.First game jitters didn't even come close to him, he just played his game.

He outshone Palladino, paro, and all the other youngesters.

I would like to think his place is reserved for next season, not a starter yet but thereabouts imo.

Forza Marchisio

Marchisio definately has to stay. He is our best youngster so far, he has a complete skill set and has proved himself in Serie B. I don't think he will be a starter next season, but I hope he continues to improve. He is still very young and needs time to grow. I really have big hopes for this kid.
:agree: Perhaps not a first choice next season, but as you say, if he continues to improve.........:) ........And I think he does have that ability in him to become a first choice for the team.

I think he´s still very young, 21 or so. This gives him an advantage over his predecessors, like Blasi or Maresca, who were 23-24 when they were fighting for a starting spot. I suspect Marchisio and Paro will be the subs for central midfield next season, with Zanetti and a Pizarro/Frings type player being the starters.

Mr. Gol

Long time... How have you been?

I agree with your post, though I figure Paro might be used as makeweight in a trade deal for another player.

I think he&Giovinco will be one of the youngsters who stays with us. Others like Paro,De Ceglie etc will be most probably loaned out. He has the potential to improve&grow with us in Serie A!Forza Claudio:)!

Hell no to a loan. We don't want to continue wasting talents because of that nonsensical loaning system. I would most certainly keep him on the squad and use him here and there, giving him chances against the smaller Serie A clubs while using the main partnership of Sissoko - Bodmer or Zanetti - Bodmer or Zanetti - Almiron for the bigger games. We should keep Marchisio and give him chances if we want him to be a mainstay in the future, which he should be.

Casiraghi starts new U-21 era
Friday 25 May, 2007
Italian Under-21 boss Pierluigi Casiraghi has named his squad for their opening Euro 2009 qualifier with Albania.

The youngsters will begin their campaign in Pontedera on June 1 in a group which also consists of Croatia, Greece, Azerbaijan and the Faroe Islands.

The 2009 Finals will be hosted by Sweden, who qualify automatically, while the 10 group winners and four best second-placed sides will qualify for the play-offs set for October 2008.

Casiraghi therefore has to start a new cycle with players born after January 1, 1986 and will meet the squad on Tuesday for a three-day training camp.

Parma and Juventus are the most represented clubs with three players each, followed by Treviso with two.

The Azzurrini have also qualified for the final phase of this year’s tournament, which will take place from June 10 to June 23 in the Netherlands.

Casiraghi has named a preliminary squad of 30 players, which will be cut to 23 by May 30.

Italy play their first match on June 11 against Serbia and will then play England and the Czech Republic on June 14 and 17.

Squad for Albania – Goalkeepers: Consigli (Sambenedettese), Sirigu (Palermo)

Defenders: Belmonte (Bari), Bocchetti (Frosinone), Criscito (Genoa), Marzoratti (Empoli), Motta (Udinese), Rickler (Chievo), M. Rossi (Modena)

Midfielders: Cigarini (Parma), Candreva (Ternana), De Ceglie (Juventus), De Martino (Udinese), Dessena (Parma), Marchisio (Juventus), Paonessa (Vicenza), Russotto (Treviso)

Forwards: Acquafresca (Treviso), Giovinco (Juventus), Lupoli (Derby County), G. Rossi (Parma)

I like this guy Casiraghi. :D
