winning CL for that team was great, many oldies like Drogba, Lampard and Terry truly deserved it for their effort, what happened afterwards not so much. it feels like Abramovich has relaxed once he got that trophy he wanted, no longer he wants to improve the team as much as possible to gun for the CL, their net spend has dropped ridiculously and they seem content with the odd league title every now and then
:yuck: :inter: That disgusting filthy douchecunt doesn't deserve shit. If anything, he deserves to be shot in both knees with an AK. A revolting and repulsive human being.

:agree: (7 out of 10).

In other words if you have neither Ronaldo or Messi, you are more liekly to win CL with defensive football.

So Juve should play defensive football is they wanna win CL.
Or Juve should invest in attacking players, as we have done, to boost their chances of winning the CL, because attack mode implies scoring goals, and goals, more often than not, result in ties being won. Clean sheets against top heavy teams are rare; therefore, it's more likely, as proven by statistics and the list of past winners, that defensive teams winning is the exception rather than the norm.

Now, if we can maintain/keep our top players and resolve those "midfield issues" I'm quite certain we'd be in with a much better overall chance of winning the whole thing.

What statistics? You simply can't use statistic as an argument without showing any.

Secondly you didn't get the point of my post; correlation does not imply causation.

why don't you like Terry? :D one of the best English players I've ever seen, I'd place him and Lampard above Rooney, Becks and Gerard

Cuz he's a loathsome, insufferable, easily detestable cunt. Unless you're a closet Chelsea fan, there's actually no legitimate reason to like him. He comes across as a total asshole, and he's pretty dirty as well. He has such a punchable face. I would definitely not place him above Rooney and Gerard. Beckham was more a brand than a footballer; the dude had a bit of talent and a lot of heart, but he wasn't exactly the most gifted player of his generation.

Dybala? He's good, but there aren't only the Messis and Ronaldos of this world who are in front of him. That'd be a fanboy-ish thing to say.

He produced Gif-Magic though. Just like our boy Stu. Reason enough to like him.

if we're talking about gifted, there's not much use including defenders in the conversation :D

Terry has a long rap sheet, I'm just interested which of his troubles with british tabloids tickle you so much, I always found that he's been somewhat crucified by tabloids. Of course it's impossible to compare defenders with attackers, but Rooney and Gerrard forgot to turn up at so many important games (or, in case of Rooney, for approximately half his career) that it's hard for me to consider them particularly great

But there aren't that many, who's to say Paolo doesn't improve in the 2 seasons and doesn't surpass his competition? He definitely is in conversation along with Neymar, Hazard, Griezmann and a couple others depending on your taste.

I see the managerial banter has started. :numnum:

Juventus' Max Allegri: Tottenham don't defend as well as Lazio

Lazio
Played 27. Conceded 34. Clean Sheets 8. Avg Conc Per Game 1.26

Spurs
Played 29. Conceded 24. Clean Sheets 14. Avg Conc Per Game 0.83

Congrats on the Lazio result tho'. That was some last minute Netflix-worthy drama there! Scudetto looks like it's tipped Juve's way now?
Lazio against Juve defend better than Tottenham because they sit very deep and compact. Tottenham obviously press high and take more risks. Juve had 1 shot vs Lazio and 10 vs Spurs. Plus the CL is a more open game. Mind you obviously Tottenham faced Juve with Higuain and Lazio didn't.

Lazio vs non-Juve opponents are much more proactive and attack minded. They open themselves up.

As far as this match, without Higuain, Bernardeschi, Cuadrado and Dybala looking so unfit after two months out with injury, Tottenham are facing a depleted side. If Spurs don't win then they deserve huge blame. Should Benatia miss this match (Juve's best CB this year) then Juve might need to throw me into the starting eleven at this point.

Don't forget his fatal slip back in the 2008 CL Final  Wish it wasn't vs MU tho.
