We'll use it, if those players are indeed fielded tomorrow. As for defensive phase, I don't think Madrid will press us to back 5. Conte will organize team to something resembling more of 4-5-1, with Tevez dropping deep.

I don't really thinks that matters. We just need someone who knows how to play LB, which would hopefully ease the ridiculous frequency to which we are subject to attacks down that side.

From the point of view of how to go about taking on Real Madrid, I'm not sure I really see the point in changing to 4-3-1-2.

Sure, I prefer a back four - especially when taking on a team with wingers - but it is another system where there is a good chance of being overrun on the flanks.

However, if the 4-3-1-2 is just Conte adapting to the players he has available (i.e. he doesn't trust anyone other than Lichtsteiner to play right wing-back) I would understand the change.

One extra man will allow us to stay further up the pitch and leave them a little less place to make their play. We'll be able to press them more efficiently and creating situations should be easier with that one extra man. There's no doubt our first line of defense has to be attack in such a match like this one. Whoever plays treq role he'll have to run his socks off while we lose possession. Tevez alone can't chase their defenders/mids.

One of our biggest issues lately, when facing strong opponents. In today's football where most teams field one striker, that 3rd CB is obsolete. This formation makes perfect sense and hopefully we'll see more productive passes between our midfielders, who posses enough talent to lead the game unlike till now when we witnessed countless of useless passes between BBC. Shifting the play to a final 3rd is something I'm very excited to see. Finally.

It should make it easier for Juve to crowd the midfield and do more defending in midfield rather than with the last line.

That could prove useful in terms of making it harder for Real Madrid to get long-range shots in. Ordinarily with Buffon, I'd let teams shoot from long range (particularly a relatively scary team like Real Madrid who can hurt you in many other ways), but he just isn't as secure in dealing with that just now as he typically is.

Never really viewed 4-3-1-2 as a system all that suited to pressing because there will almost always be a relatively easy out-ball on to one of the full backs, due to the lack of width high up the pitch in 4-3-1-2.

It can be done, but it would be pretty tough for Juve to change system and have mastered pressing properly with it in the couple of days before the game.

Yeah exactly my point. Having 3 CBs is too many that's very true. Besides today you can't win without pressing. If we back off like we do nowadays every top class team will capitalize on that. That's why we can't afford doing that.
I'm hoping for better play overall too! We need something more from our midfield and attack. You can see those players can play faster and even one touch to make it actually effective but also nice for an eye. Our attacks have to be faster and it makes me laugh when people like Zach say all we want are fancy dribblers. One thing I'm sure of is that our players didn't suddenly forget how to play.

Could also be that the 4-3-1-2 is a reaction to the suggestion that Real Madrid will play 4-3-3, rather than 4-2-3-1.

Playing against 4-3-3 would mean Pirlo wouldn't have a direct opponent in the way that he typically would in 4-2-3-1, which could lead Juve to think there is less need for the extra centre half to guard against Pirlo's defensive weakness.

However, you could argue that Juve can't win without pressing, because if you are to be successful in sitting deep and soaking up pressure, you'd better be good at playing on the counter-attack - and Juve ain't good at it.
