Fred, shall we start with some pre-match talk?

Alen is busy and he might join us at the second half.

Bordeaux have made quite the positive start to their season in Ligue. They've won 4 games and drew one. They are yet to lose this season, so their morale is high.

Knowing Laurent Blanc he will probably play cautiously today, as he always does when playing tough opposition away from home. Despite playing with two strikers in the majority of their games this season, he will not do that today.

He will probably start with a 4-2-3-1 formation.

He will have two defensive midfielders starting, Fernando and Diarra, both will play a holding role and will probably not be going forward a lot. So Giovinco might not find much space with them.

On the left, Wendel will play, he is probably going to be given defensive responsibilities, on the right it will be either Goufran or Plasil.

I think Juve's defense will not be threatened too much by the duo of Gourcuff and Chamakh, because in the big games, when Blanc chooses to play too defensively, they get isolated upfront way too often.

I do think Bordeaux's real danger will come from the fullbacks though. Chalme on the right, and Tremoulinas on the left. They will be providing the width today, and their forward runs and crosses are something Juventus should be wary of.

Concerning the cautious approach, even without seeing how Blanc usually takes on the games, I guessed he will take a cautious one after reading his comments today that they have nothing to lose and they will just go there to prove themselves.

Yes his comments certainly do reflect that.

I do think however that Bordeaux's form in the Ligue will not be that relevant today. The teams they face in the Ligue week in week out, are at least two levels below the teams in England, Spain and Italy.

I'm not saying it will be easy for Juve today, but i don't think Bordeaux have a realistic chance of taking any points home today.

    It's confirmed.

This is how Bordeaux will look:

    --------------------Carrasso

    ----Chalme------Planus------Ciani------Tremoulinas

    -----------------Diarra---------Fernando

    -----------Plasil---------Gourcuff------Wendel

    -------------------------Chamakh

I think benching both Cavenaghi and Goufran signals Blanc's intent to be cautious today. Plasil and Wendel will both be given defensive duties, they will track back and move inward in midfield to try and outnumber Juve's midfield.

Shame, i really wanted Goufran to play this game. I remember two seasons ago, when Goufran was with Caen, they played Lyon, and he played on Grosso's side, he gave Grosso such a hard time, that by the end of the first half, Grosso already made two bookable offenses against him and got himself sent off. Would have loved to see them duel again.

And this is how Juventus will look:

    Buffon
    Caceres Canna Legro Grosso
    Tiago Melo Marchisio
    Giovinco
    Amauri Iaquinta

Manninger Zebina Camo Trezeguet Poulsen Molinaro De Ceglie

We don't have a CB on the bench :scared:

Juve will probably lineup like this.

    ---------------------Buffon

    ---Caceres-----Cannavaro----Legro-----Grosso

    --------------------Melo----

    -------------Tiago-----------Marchisio

    -------------------Giovinco

    ------------Iaquinta------Amauri

A lot of absences for Juve, but this team will probably be enough to see of the French threat. Will be interesting seeing how Gio will fare against Fernando and Alou Diarra, the latter being one of the strongest DM's in the Ligue.

Edit: You beat me to it Jack :)

Caceres can move back to his original position as CB with Zebina slotting in at rightback if the situation arises.

I think a lot lies on Giovinco's shoulders, it's also a good game to really launch him. I like his latest comments, he feel indifferent and it seems he doesn't feel the pressure, he is aware of his potential and that might be positive.

Last time we met was in 1985 and we won 3-0 in Turin and lost 2-0 in the return. That year we went to win the CL at the famous Heysel tragedy.

Bordeaux's captain. Did he and Tiego play together or he remembers him from the Lyon days?
