He has 29 assists in 1.5 seasons. Do I really have to beat this dead horse forever. His goal+assist/minute ratio is better than Messi's by quite a bit in the last 1.5 seasons and with far inferior attacking teammates.
Cristiano last 1.5 seasons in CL and La Liga:
85 goals - 29 assists - 6504 minutes = goal/assist per 57.1 minutes
Messi last 1.5 seasons in CL and La Liga:
67 goals - 28 assists - 5801 minutes = goal/assist per 61.1 minutes
Cristiano is significantly better in this stat. Messi makes up for it by adding slightly more in general game play... But only a complete and utter idiot would say Cristiano does nothing besides score.
These are also pure attacking players who mostly stand around when their teams don't have the ball. Their influence on games can be directly measured by goals+assists seeing as that is by far their primary purpose.

Or people who have been conditioned by the media to believe this. Ronaldo is portrayed as football's villain and Messi is the hero. Still, I see one guy give the shirt off his back to help old friends or fans with problems and I see the other go to a banana republic to get some extra money because he didn't evade enough taxes..

Osman was ignoring facts too, but he doesn't go on quite the laughable rampage about it that Cheesio does. It's quite obvious that neither one of them watches Cristiano play often, which makes sense, seeing as they're probably watching Messi and Barca play as they are most certainly fanboys of Messi. But to then pretend they have this superior knowledge about Cristiano's game and argue right in the face of facts is pretty damn amusing. Infuriating too, but amusing nevertheless.
Even @Fred has some commonsense here, which I must admit I found surprising from our resident rich boy.

Yep. Ronaldo came into a Real Madrid team that hadn't progressed past CL Round of 16 in a half-dozen years. Messi came into a dominant Barcelona that won La Liga his first two years, and did a double with the CL his second year, when he was a rotation player off the bench and played in less than half their games. He came into a team where he had little pressure to start, and could learn from Ronaldinho who won Ballon D'Or in Messi's first year, and led Barca to CL glory the second year. A much better situation, and superior team to be thrust into.
