I still don't understand this zonal marking on set pieces. Did we played them this way under max?
Danilo should never be in a position to contest a header with gimenez. De ligt or bon bon should be assigned to him.

Zonal marking on set pieces has become popular recently. It is favored by some of the top managers out there like Klopp, Sarri, Benitez, Mazzari and so on. It has been thoroughly tested and proven to be the most effective way of ensuring that you concede massive amount of goals from set pieces. It's practisioners are not unlike cult followers, in that no matter how much they fail with it, they refuse to switch to man marking.

That second half was encouraging because under Allegri they would’ve just sat back and been content after the Cuadrado goal. Defense needs time, as half the backline is new. Set pieces are an issue, but not as big of an issue as the midfield.
And so far the results from Sarri's philosohy when we take the lead has been blowing a 3-0 lead and then a 2-0 lead. It's hard to get any worse than that but I don't see it getting any better.

Id be happy with a draw here 2-2.

Stop spewing lies. We had much better stats and possession when we lost 2-0 last year. I can’t comprehend why people think Sarri is the second coming of attacking football. Tonight (just like the Napoli game), proved it’s not true.
You'd rather lose 2-0 than draw 2-2? wow okay

Couldn't watch but pleasantly surprised with a draw. Guess it should have been a W but won't complain a bit. By the MoM votes nice that Cuads and Bono played well. So the same old same old lineup did well? Haven't looked at the stats yet so who dominated the match?

I wasn't expecting a win so a draw is acceptable. Although being two goals up is a bit hard to swallow.

We just can't seem to play a full 90 mins of football. We needed another month of preseason preparation. New coach and new tactics, brought in new players who haven't played enough football over the past 12 months...the good thing is we haven't lost a game yet regardless of the current challenges.

I'd have taken a draw before the game, but given that we were 2-0 up, the result is disappointing. A solid performance, especially in the 2nd half. We really need to work on set pieces, or we're gonna get fucked later down the line.

Neither. It was a pretty even match with Atletico being the sligthly better team during the first half and then Juve being a bit better in the second half.

First off all - Totally agree!
The good thing is we are only starting our campaign so many errors can be fixed and we could be ready for the later stages.
The bad - I am wondering if it is just me or do you see Sarri`s game as way too predictable?

To sum off these 4 games we have played - Our intentions on the field have changed which means we are more likely to win a final now IMO BUT we do have some major issues to resolve if we want a final.
1. Set piece problem
2. Danilo - He only played 2 games so tough to really judge but he was simply horrible vs Atletico - Many attacks came from his side and he looks frightened when having the ball against an Atletico player.. I really hope to see more of Danilo vs Napoli rather than Danilo vs Atletico.
3. Higuain - He is a good player and when he plays you know what you get but its very tough playing with such a heavy player - We have to upgrade over him (He is a very good scorer though)
4. Dybala - I want him sold for his sake and for Juve sake - He can be much better at another team and he seems useless for us so cash in on him and get a forward who can play our system.

Overall, while result is crap, I liked what I saw. For a 4th iirc game it's a pretty good progress. One thing I hope we do in some less meaningfull game is bench Pjanic for Bentancur. Miralem plays like Jorgihno recently, and I mean it in a bad way – just one-twos when moving ball from the back and that's it, no real magic from him. Bentancur is not a magician himself, but he is a great tackler, can cover more ground much quicker. Maybe he can offset workloud of Blaise if we bench him for Rabiot, or Higgy with Dybala.

Also, we conceded lots of set piece goals with his defence and the supposedly superior man marking, so I'd keep wondering.
Set pieces is a chronic problem, but the defensive spark overall seems to be missing.

Ofc this is due to Chiello missing and the 2/4 parts of defence are new, so we'll see when they bind.

Two ways to look at this.

1. In our toughest group game we completely dominated them. Two goals from open play, quite a few chances, more % ball posession, promising start. A draw isnt that bad

2. We keep on conceding goals from set pieces. So far we have conceded, 5 goals and 4 came from set pieces. It’s fixable but we lack aerial hight.

It’ll depends on how Sarri fixes the defence. It isnt easy without Chiellini, even Allegri couldnt properly do it without Chiellini.

Also. Sarri needs to come with a plan. Yesterday it wouldve been more logical to introduce Demiral and go 532 rather than Ramsey
