Saturday’s visitors Chievo have had a mixed start to the 2012/13 Serie A campaign, winning one and losing two of their opening three encounters.
The Gialloblu kicked off their season with a solid 2-0 victory over Bologna at the Bentegodi. They were, however, required to wait until midway through the second half before breaking the deadlock. Talismanic skipper Pellissier connected with Thereau’s cross to open the scoring on 65 minutes, before the three points were made safe when substitute Cruzado tucked home late on.
Goals either side of the interval punished the Gialloblu in their next Serie A outing against Parma at the Tardini. A tightly contested encounter was brought to life when Belfodil headed Galloppa’s cross home on 33 minutes. The hosts then doubled their lead through Rosi with four minutes remaining.
Chievo then stumbled to a 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Lazio. It took the visitors just five minutes to go in front, with Hernanes finding the target courtesy of a well-placed effort from outside the box. Their advantage was doubled shortly before half-time when Klose stole in with a typical predator’s finish from close range. Hernanes went on to add his second after the interval, while Pelissier converted a consolation effort from the spot in the closing stages.
