So close yet so so far away

We just weren’t very good this year. Nowhere close.

The first 3 years of Allegri’s tenure I would have said we could beat anyone on our day when fit and in form (assuming we are the team that gets that little bit of luck).

The past two years, while we have a good team, we’re always in brutal shape physically, can’t be arsed to show motivation frequently, and can’t seem to lock down a coherent set of tactics consistently. Top performances show up, but they are rare.

He made glaring mistakes in past 2 years. Remember Barzagli vs Son in London? Or Dybala vs Ajax? His game plan (or lack thereof) in first leg against Atleti?
The ironic part is we were called CL favorites as soon as we signed Ronaldo, but we'd never been this far under Allegri.
