Different though as the German national side actually is probably the best in the world as opposed to England who, at best, draw an easy group and make the round of 16
But the "Buli" is also the best league in the world you know. Soon they gonna surpass england they said. Just a matter of time til they are 1st in the Uefa coefficient ranking.

But the German team is one of the best. I always used to think that German commentators were fairly nuanced, when commentating German sides vs foreign sides. Here, it has always been nauseating pro English and ridicolously anti Italian.
It really isn't. Epecially against italian teams it is unwatchable. The butthurt is still strong after all the years.

Well. It was also many years ago and I don't understand much German anymore. I remember how racist media like Bild was, when Germany had to play Italy in 2006. Did I write racist? What I meant is that it would only had been considered racist, if they were talking about an African team.

And they're building form.
Oh, I wouldn't worry too much about that. We're up against Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal before playing in Turin. We'll be coming into the first leg with at least one recent loss under our belt!

I have never seen a national team (or player) be hyped as much as the English throughout the years. And that's English fans, experts and media.
Hyped by the media, but not the fans. We expect to get knocked out of the Euros and World Cup early, and it's fair to say our expectations are often well met!

The Bundesliga and German National team hype in Germany was at least as bad in the last years. @lgorTudor
Can't watch a football match involving a german team without pressing the mute button, that's how full of themselfs they still are.
It'll be much better when you're watching the "Republic of Northern Magreb" national team in Arabic :baus:

But haven't you been focusing on the CL, or is just down to poor squad depth that you did good at the CL group stages and pretty underwhelm in the PL? I haven't watched you much, so I don't know if it was down to rotating. You've been looking good after the CL break.

A number of factors really. I could go on about injuries to key players at the wrong time, the new PL fashion of lower table teams parking the bus, playing away from home all season, and the top 6 aside from City being about equal all taking points off each other. Yada yada etc.

But I think we've played better in CL as we've been selling out Wembley. There's a better atmosphere with a full crowd. Like we had at White Hart Lane, and will do again next year. We'll get 85k - 90k for Juventus, but who wants to pay Wembley ticket prices to see Stoke or Swansea put 10 men behind the ball. And even though a 40k attendance isn't low by most standards, that's not even half-full. Like an exhibition match, and our team has played like it's an exhibition in some of those games.

We're not in 5th because we've lost the odd game to another top six team, we're there through draws with Swansea, Burnley and West Ham etc. Can only hope our big-game Charlies (e.g. Alli) are more motivated by Italy's best in front of a full house. Kane will turn it on whoever we play, but some of the other younger players aren't quite at that level of commitment (then again, most aren't).

I find the stadium argument weak and also laughed about it last year. I think Juve is the better team, but you playing at home makes it a 50/50 game. Mainly because you're a top side and Juve have been pretty mediocre in this years CL. You have a world-class attack and we miss too many chances. That could be decisive.

To be honest, Real haven't been very good this season, and Dortmund are just shocking. Impressive as their group stage record is, I wouldn't read too much into it.

Are Spurs a tactically versatile team? They seem to play the same type of football every time I watch them.
They're versatile so long as the right players are available for selection. Kane is irreplacable, but missing Alderweireld, Rose and Wanyama has hurt us this season - as they fit the system perfectly. Also, if Eriksen were missing we couldn't play counter-attacking anywhere near as effectively. So versatile-ish. I'd expect we'll play with 5-3-2 in Italy and let Juve have the ball in midfield, leaving two strikers (probably Kane and Son) available for the quick counter. At home it'll either be 3-4-3 or a 4-2-3-1. At least that's how we've approached CL this year. Crowd the midfield and press at home with a high defensive line, but sit back and counter in the away games.

It'll be interesting to watch it play out, as I can't see Juve being as tactically careless as Dortmund and Madrid were, they left holes all over the place.

Plus the PL - if it's a top 6 side vs anyone else - is becoming a dull game of attack vs defence. One team playing for 0-0 and to nick a win in the 80th minute and the other with 75% of the ball. So I'm not at all surprised if it's starting to look a bit samey. It's these proper games we're all looking forward to!
