The worst thing about us drawing a Premier League team is the collective knee-jerk of "EPL fans are intellectual inferior to us. We the Socrates, Plato and Aristotle of football"

I call it the Zach-Badass Effect.

I usually avoid any comments on what other fans say about us when we are going to meet but from winning over Juve in the second round of CL they go to winning the entire CL. Are we the only obstacle they have? They are saying that they got the easiest draw but by winning over Juve they are winning the whole thing, can someone explain?

Beating Madrid and Dortmund has made them way too confident.

I love it when people like this get taken back down to Earth
Kinda like how we were taken back to earth in those finals.

Most fans get too excited and overestimate their teams and under rate opponents.

What the fucking shit 'we got taken back to earth' ?

We were the better team in the first half, 2 extremely important players got injured and we had no replacement. Madrid got a lucky deflected shot in before Max was reacting , and afterwards Madrid was countering a wounded juve to defeat.

Think 2012. Fit and eager Italy was the better team against reinging champions spain. We met again in the final only this time we had several players with injuries on the field, and we collapsed.

And in 2015 final we got robbed of a penalty while it was still 1-1 and i woudn’t call that being overconfident as most people aknowledged we were underdogs...

In 2017 final we can call it a collapse because we were overconfident counting on the fact Madrid wont be able to win it twice in a row and for different reasons the second half turned into a nightmare for us but other than that we can’t be compared to the likes of Tottenham being overconfident when other than a couple of good momentums they the type of team you’d see celebrating a UCL Quarter-final appearance yet trophyless season, while on the other hand Juve has a work ethic based on a winning mentality which gives them every right to consider themself favourites(overconfident) against any opponent, especially the likes of Tottenham...

I am aware in football you never know how it goes and i dont want to underrate Tottenham as i know it wont be easy to get past them but what i wanted to point out in this debate is the fact that Juventus are genuine UCL contenders while Tottenham are maybe at most genuine Europa League contenders so is not worth comparing the two.

:agree: as if liking the poor, corrupt shitty Italian league makes you some kind off football connoisseur. Its slower and with worse players, you just have to see the dacdics. Some faggy hipster shit.

I don't think its that surprising they would underrate us and i think its funny that people on this forum are so judgemental about it now. If you don't follow italian football closely and just read some headlines you would think we are much weaker side than last season.

Hell, if you visited this forum within the last few months(before the Napoli win) reading the posts around here you would think we were in crisis mode, allegri was not capable of forming a coherent attacking plan :)howler:) Beppes transfer policies were continuing to screw us, and it was "the end of an era" and the lot of you doom and gloomers actually watch italian football so you have no excuse unlike the Tottenham fans who probably don't. Plenty of posts around here about how we weren't even going to be in the scudetto race and the best football in the world was going to wallop us in Nipples and blow us away in the title race :howler:

From what I've read, the Tottenham fans actually seem to rate us higher than many around here were doing up until about a week ago.

I think Kyle's is a great post. Spurs fans are not underestimating Juventus. Most of us are really excited about seeing our team test themselves against a European heavyweight over two legs in the knock-out rounds. I'd say most Tottenham supporters believe we can win, but we are expecting a very close contest, and that we will absolutely have to be on top of our game to have any chance of progressing.

Equally, I'd hope that most of you guys enjoy the game - and would caution against underestimating Tottenham. This isn't some fly-by-night backwater of a club you're up against, even if our CL pedigree is minimal. This is an established and historied club from London with a huge fan base. We're the 10th richest club in the World, have arguably the second most valuable squad in the World behind Man City only (according to CIES Football Observatory), possibly the best training facilities in Europe, and a dynamic and tactically adaptable first-team equally comfortable in aggressive pressing or giving up possession and counter-attacking with 3, 4 or 5 at the back depending on the situation. Of course, we'll also be spearheaded by one of the most reliable strikers in World football right now ;) And by no means are we a one-man team. Eriksen, Alli and Son are more than capable of creating goals out of nothing if Kane has an off-day. We'll be selling out Wembley (whilst the £1Billion new stadium is being built for next year) and with almost 90k supporters in attendance for this game - and it will be very, very loud!

If any of you want tips on how to get tickets for the match in England, I'll be more than happy to advise, and can point out a few good places to eat / drink before and after the Wembley game. Or some places to stay that might help you avoid the congestion when travelling by tube.

Really looking forward to this game and learning a bit more about Italian football and bench-marking our progress against one of the CL big boys!

Best of luck, and may the best team win.

The atmosphere in English stadiums suck. We have played City and Chelsea, and for most of the game, we were only hearing Juventus chants.

City and Chelsea are 'new money'. It's a shame we can't play you guys at White Hart Lane this season, but still, I promise that the Wembley atmosphere will be something entirely different to Man City and Chelsea.

"arguably the second most valuable squad in the World behind Man City."

:touched:
This is according to the CIES Football Observatory, not me. The CIES Football Observatory is a research group within the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES), an independent study centre located in Neuchâtel, Switzerland. The CIES Football Observatory specialises in the statistical analysis of football. It was created in 2005 by Dr. Raffaele Poli and Dr. Loïc Ravenel.

Whilst I accept this is your space and you're free to mock, my offer's still there for any supporters who want ticket / travel tips etc for Wembley. And again, good luck for the game guys.

Yeah, i noticed that part too.

As if Real Madrid , Barcelona , Bayern , Juventus , Man United , PSG , Chelsea 'arguably' don't exist...
