In a new interview with him, he revealed the following:

"In 1983, Juventus, Milan and Sampdoria approached Manchester United for me. I said if Juventus had a real interest, I’d be interested in talking to them. Juve had seven or eight of Italy’s World Cup winners, plus Michel Platini, my favourite player then. Nobody offered what United wanted, so it came to nothing."

from what i remember of him he was pretty good, an absolute legend for man united but i only caught the tail end of his career, i was still a sperm in 1983!!
