Brescia President Luigi Corioni has revealed that the Rondinelle are ready to make a sensational offer for Juventus ace Alessandro Del Piero.
The Bianconeri captain is out of contract at the end of the season and may consider a move if Juventus fail to match his demands, which are thought to be more than £3m per season.
However, should this be the case, the 32-year-old could follow in the footsteps of his former Juve teammate Roberto Baggio with a move to Brescia in the latter stages of his career.
“I am ready to deal with Del Piero, just as I did with Baggio,” revealed Corioni. “For players like them I can go over our salary cap because it is definitely worth it.
“We have a good squad and we are ready for promotion. With these players we could get into the top six in Serie A – and Del Piero would be a fantastic addition.”
It remains to be seen whether or not the Juventus No 10 would leave his beloved team for a smaller side such as Brescia.
But the Turin outfit’s sporting director Alessio Secco recently admitted that there was a chance that Del Piero could leave the Old Lady at the end of the season.
The Bianconero was only a substitute for last weekend’s game against Fiorentina – which finished 1-1 – and has also been left out of Roberto Donadoni’s latest Italy squad.
