Juventus are reported to have rejected an approach from Chelsea for Giorgio Chiellini.

Reports emanating from Italy suggest Chelsea enquired about the versatile defender as they look to bolster their defensive options.

Chiellini is highly-regarded in Turin and Juve officials are thought to have informed Chelsea they have no plans to sell the player.

Chelsea were willing to pay up to €12 million (£8 million) for Chiellini, but Bianconeri president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli has rejected Chelsea's overtures.

Juventus have lost a number of top stars including Fabio Cannavaro, Lilian Thuram, Gianluca Zambrotta, Emerson, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Patrick Vieira this summer following their involvement in the match-fixing scandal and they are determined not to see any other players move on.

Chiellini has struggled to hold down a regular place at Juve, but the departure of Zambrotta is likely to see the Italian Under-21 international play a bigger role at the Stadio Delle Alpi this term.

G. Chiellini is a big dilemma IMO.

Why?

Because I don't believe he has got the quickness to hold down the wing back position...That's the weakness in his defending...
I personally feel he would make a better centerback given his hight and power, but then again, he can provide good crosses and runs that its a shame to turn him into a central defender.

I wouldn't mind if we sold Chiellini, but only if we bring in a fantastic young central defender like Barzagli, or else, its just offloading another yound prospect.

even though last game against napoli he was out of position alot i still believe he can be better than zambrotta. and i can understand why chelsea made an offer for him. but hes staying with us

Chiellini is certainly good enough for serie B. He does have defensive weakness but where better to improve this than in the lower division. I believe he can turn out to be a great player for us and at the moment retaining money isnt a priority, getting good players certainly is.

as a left back, i dont see chiellini being anywhere near as good as zambrotta is. Deschamps has the idea of playing him as a centre back and i think with the current situation, as well as his height and overall characteristics as a defender, he would be better suited in such a role.

As it stands we have no future centre backs at the club and Balzaretti is still a better left back than right back..it makes sense to keep him and convert him into a centre back.

    please no :disagree:

but thats a different issue, his atitude is too much like crapello.

Oh so John Terry & Frank Lampard playe even when they are off form?Chelsea rely on Carvalho & Terry to lob the ball to Drogba to score?Mourinho uses the same starting eleven even though the players need a much deserved rest?

Andy u talk way tooooo much shite!Mourinho is a wonderful coach!

i can already see him. "the reffere was awful. vafanculo moratti. no, i will not shut up, i am the special one and i must say what i think, and what i think is always right. we were the better team and we lost because of the referee. the better team didn't win today. that is all you need to know."

    what a guy. :D
