Adri bound for the Bin?

The under-fire Adriano heads the list of candidates for this season’s dreaded Bidone d’Oro – Golden Bin – award.

It’s the fifth year of the “prize” created by Radio2 Catersport, which is handed to the player deemed to be the biggest flop of the campaign.

Inter’s troubled hitman Adriano was last term’s recipient and is the favourite again, but a team of 39 experts including representatives from France, Japan, Germany, Congo, Spain and Brazil have selected 50 names.

Milan have 10 nominees, including the injury-prone Ronaldo and much maligned goalkeeper Nelson Dida.

Eight Inter men have been chosen with summer signings David Suazo and Cristian Chivu amongst the names, while Juventus contribute four hapless stars led by wantaway midfielder Tiago Mendes and bench warmer Jean-Alain Boumsong.

Surprisingly, seven world champions are on the list – Simone Barone, Alessandro Del Piero, Alberto Gilardino, Marco Amelia, Fabio Grosso, Alessandro Nesta and Marco Materazzi.

While the award is a blow to any player’s pride, Nicola Legrottaglie and Christian Vieri are back to their best despite being handed the award in 2004 and 2005 respectively.

none of the world champions deserve to be on that last because none of them have been as bad as a number of other players. esepcially matterazi. He has been injured all season how can he have done bad same with Barone. I would give this years award to Dida because quite frankly he has been awful.

Greece plays the ugliest football on Earth.
I wouldn't go that far. But it's pretty damn ugly.

I have a hard time even watching Benfica play, given the Greek players on that squad in recent years...

But the Bidone has to go to Adriano, hands down. Even if Dida is making a run for it even as a CL winner...
