Do you guys think Italy would benefit from a false 9 instead of Immobile. Definitely looks like they need someone who is better playing with his back to goal. Immobile giving the ball away and gifting belgium counters seemed to be Belgiums greatest threat tonight

How good was jorginho tonight though? Think i must have been biased against him because of his garbageman past

I don't think so. Immobile's pretty shit, but Italy's system needs that kind of player.

I do wonder how they're going to replace Spina.

I don't rate him much, but at least he's solid in defense isn't he? Better him than playing a CB imo.

...As much as I hate to say it, Berna might be the closest thing to Spina.

Or maybe even Chiesa? :shifty:
DiLorenzo needs to play like a RCB in that case though and Locatelli instead of Vertatti :boh:

Injured, supplies. Italy's two best fullbacks are crocks.

Btw Di Lorenzo surprised me a little, he's covered pretty well.
Had to put a bit of a shift on Doku. I’m surprised they never targeted him more. Martinez for you.

Spina will really be missed. Woke up this morning feeling bittersweet, because he works so well in this system breaking forward with his tireless running. Was thinking Florenzi could play LB as he’s done so in the past. Berna will fuck it all up. Best he stays on the bench with his guitar.

Spain has played against team that dont want to play football. Most team they faced played with 10 players on goal, Morara is not the best to score against such teams. It will be different game vs Italy. I expect a very open game and it could go either way.
Sure, it's a semi-final and could go either way, I just see Italy as a better team. Better keeper, better midfield, better defence tbh, Spain look a bit dodgy without Ramos. Up front both teams are a good striker away from being clinical teams. I'd rather Morata up front for Italy than Immobile but with Morata it's always how he feels on the day, he is a psychological conundrum. But I'd imagine that up against Bonucci and Chiellini he'll be fired up. However they will know how best to knock his confidence.

Too bad Zaniolo is injured. If he was in this squad, I think he could adequately do the nr 10 false 9 type of role. Fall down and let wingers cut in, while being strong as a ox and super technical that he can hold off defenders, play them through. Like a Totti in Roma role under spalletti (when they didn't use a CF).

Rest of the wingers in this Italy team cant replace the physical presence of a CF in this tactical approach. Would never work.

Even if he is healthy Di Lorenzo should go ahead of Florenzi. Who was terrible every time he played for Azzurri lately. His offensive game wasn't much and he lost duels and the ball too much. Di Lorenzo is strong as heck in duels and can occasionally do overlap runs.

Yeah I'm inclined to agree, tbh. I wouldn't put Florenzi back in now even if he was 100%. I'm just a bit concerned at the lack of attacking width in the next game. I could even see Mancini playing Bernardeschi out on the left, even if he just runs into space for 70 mins it occupies some of what Spinazzola has been doing. With Emerson I see him sitting that bit further back and isolating Insigne more. Chiesa on the other hand can make himself space and chances out of nothing because he is so relentless with and without the ball.

Long term Calabria will take Florenzi's place. He's not spectacular but is definitely the more attacking option to Di Lorenzo, and you need two types of fullback for tournaments.
