I thought Mexico were pretty terrible, so it's hard to judge how well Italy actually played. They didn't have to do much, and that brings them down a level.

Still, it was a decent performance, mostly total control of the ball. Mexico swarmed like Speedy Gonzales on the counter attack, but they didn't create many chances.

Barzagli making an error like that was a bit of a collectors item these days.

I thought Pirlo and De Sciglio were the best players.

They were terrible. Mexico don't have enough quality these days. In the past they would give Italy a lot of more trouble. We'll see Italians against Japan and of course Brazil. I expect totally different game regarding their recent friendly. But I'm not too convinced with their recent play. They lost that momentum.

And Montolivo often takes reigns when Pirlo gets tired. The only Prandelli's mistake last night was not deploying one of Cerci or Diamanti from the start if SES is not ready yet. It would give us more width and directness against Mexican defenders.
Agree. Though I think Cassano (if fit) is still the best option to play off Balotelli for the WC and one of SES/Cerci/Dia/Giac for the AM/Winger position.
