Pepe is far from being a stupid player.

His technique lets him down much more than his decision making.
To me he has a very low football IQ. Most of the time he's making headless runs (yeah, I know he's playing much better this season). I think he's one of the easiest players to cut out of play when opponent is decent. Luck is on his side this season, especially when it comes to goal scoring. As for technique, I think that word can't placed in the same sentence as Pepe.

His passing was never that bad to improve much. It's not as if we couldn't see him.
I agree. He had one or two matches when he made many mistakes, but no big ones. Overall his passing so far was fairly decent.

And I called him out for those 2 games, but some here were unwilling to admit it. :D

And yes, overall his passing is just fine.

I think majority said how he had some horrible passes. At least I remember many pointing that out.

However, none of those passes were critical for counter attacks IIRC.
None were critical to OUR counter attacks, rather they were to other teams countering us. :)

I meant that. And they weren't critical at all, I don't know what you're on about :boh: Probably that Marchisio-syndrome.
I mis-read it. I thought you meant they weren't criticial for "our" counterattacks.

And what was the point of that last comment?

How is it luck that Pepe keeps scoring?

If you keep getting in good positions, as he has, and have teammates capable of providing decent service, you are likely to get chances.

It may not be ingenious movement, but just playing the percentages is often enough.

His problem which is IMO his limitation too, is that he can't capitalize on his constant running efficiently. It's has partially improved in his game this season and the fact that he's had a good scoring record so far has a lot to do with that. The bigger space you cover with your runs, the greater your chance becomes to get in good scoring positions. That said, I don't see him taking it to another level. He is an invaluable squad player imo who could be a decent and reliable starter when the team is lacking appropriate alternatives as is the case this season.
