2012 group was tough but not as tough as we expected considering we were in Pot 3.

We would have to depend on luck again to get a less tougher group next year. Why would you want that ?

even if we end up in pot 2 we need to depend on luck, less luck, but maybe thats exactly what this team needs stiff competition from day one. I just dont rate this competition and find it second grade.

His pre-match press conference has been cancelled for unknown reasons.

Anyway, some quotes from the last post match press conference:
Would you say that you weren’t as aggressive and unscrupulous as you could have been?

“It was a very balanced match, very tactical, which was marked by a single episode. It could have been for, or against us. Alas it was against us. I think it arrived at a point in which we were fresher, physically, and I thought we would be able to take advantage of that. But Roma won, congratulations to them”.

Someone could say that Juventus was presumptuous with the five second stringers you started…

“We can be everything but presumptuous. I would say the contrary: we’re humble. In the Coppa Italia I have always played those who habitually play less in the other competitions, achieving the final in my first year and the semifinal in the second. You speak of presumption? Of what, exactly? I follow this management philosophy in order to make everyone important to our cause, to make my men understand that I have great trust in them even in games like these. Sincerely, I find this accusation of presumption gratuitous: go do some research!”.

Was Roma more aggressive or were you more timid?

“Sincerely, I saw a very balanced match… I dunno, maybe I saw another game. I don’t remember great saves that Storari was forced to make or of an absolute domination by Roma. I say that it was a balanced game decided by one episode that could have been in our favour when Giovinco was fouled [missed expulsion of Benatia] or when Isla crossed the ball [linesman adjudged it out]. Instead, the episode went in Roma’s favour, congratulations to them”.

im really surprised to see so many people care so much about the EL, only 2 titles really matter
Even if you don't care about the EL, don't you think there is a need for Juve to get as much exposure to European football (and two-legged knock-out football) as possible?

If we don't take this seriously I can't see us doing anything in Europe for a long time

We could use the money, the experience and the co-efficient points

If we can't get our of a group like this years, what will we do in the group of death? 4 draws 2 losses?

it's still better than pot3 or pot4. pot 2 gives us a better chance to top our group and avoid a heavy-weight in the round of 16.

We played a tougher group last year and won it with a weaker squad, it's football we are talking about here.
Chances of getting a tougher group are bigger if we are in Pot 3 again instead of Pot 2.

And also you cant afford to start slowly like we did in 2012/13 if we get tougher teams in the group.

Yes, but there are better chances to progress trough group stage if you're in a second pot.

I don't understand why people downplay the importance of this competition. We need to stay in Europe as long as we can for monetary reasons and coefficients.

People can't surely be denying the importance of being in a higher pot

If we keep collecting co-eff points and get into pot 1 in the next few years, we have a great chance of getting an easy group.

Would people really rather that we are constantly in pot 3, struggling to balance the CL and league, because we need our strongest team against the pot 1&2 teams, and also in the league against the likes of Roma?

More co-eff points = Higher pot = better chance of an easy draw = easier to balance league and CL = Better chance of qualifying from group stages and making money

There is no downside to getting co-eff points. If we ignore the EL we lack ambition.

Just like we did this year, in comparison to being in pot 3 the previous year with said qualification. My point being, it's about what we do on the pitch in each game, there is no hard and fast rule for football.

It's pretty obvious if you are in a higher part and face weaker teams on paper you have a better chance, but that is all. Personally I think it might not even be better for us, having seen our mentality in bigger games vs comparatively smaller ones.

I dont know whether people keep deluding themselves when they mention 'this team needs more competition so facing tougher teams in the group stages is for the better'.

We got 1 point against Real Madrid in two games.Thats facts for you.'We could've won' ,'we should've won' are all if's and but's.

inb4 some guy mentions Chelsea. We beat them when they were going through a turbulent period.

I'm not talking about rule, but chances. Being in a second pot will get you easier teams to play against and better chance to qualify.
