It's just that there are winning coaches and then everyone else. Del Rio has not proven he can win even with a good roster - he is much more likely to lose a game his team should win than win a game his team isn't supposed to. I don't think he is a coach who elevates his roster, in fact quite the opposite - he'd make it under-perform.
All in all, not the worst coach in the league but not someone I'd expect to bring a team to that next level either.
Have you changed your mind?

mmm, no ... being serious here ;)

Raiders have a top-4 roster in the NFL, in terms of player talent, and I think that's the driving force behind their record this year, which is better than I expected it would be.
They are not playing up to their talent and will ultimately underachieve, imo. They are beating mostly average teams by very narrow margins and are not as good a team as their record may indicate ... and that's on the coach.
Definitely moving in the right direction, though.

you wouldn't know what's up even if it cock-slapped in the back of your head and then raped you without vaseline :p

So the driving force behind their good record is the fact that they have good players? That's shocking!

I personally only see them getting better from here. That record is pretty indicative of how they are.

 it is an honest question tho! I'm curious about the perception others have of the Raiders

Just remember who it was that said the Raiders were going to make the AFC championship game this year. Although anything can still happen, obviously.
:D I do remeber
yeah, anything can happen, specially in the AFCW... KC and Denver are just behind us, waiting. A lot is going to be decided on the next TNF.

I know you are :p

Really? Top 4? I know there's a lot of talent, specially on the offensive side of the ball, basically everything is taken care of on that side
QB? Check. O-Line? Check. RB tandem? Check. WR stellar duo? Check.
Probably the only thing missing would be a bit of depth in both O-Line and WR, Roberts is cool, but I don't really trust anyone else besides him, Coop, and Crabtree.
I get that there's talent on the defense as well, and some important pieces are missing such as MEJr and A. Smith. But I feel that there's bigger holes to plug there, the D-Line isn't that great, and neither are our linebackers. Mack, Irvin, Amerson, S. Smith, Nelson and Joseph are the only ones that are up to the job imo. We could get a lot of help in every line on the Defense.

It's better than I expected it to be too, I was hoping for just a winning season, but they have already got 10 wins, there could still be more to come, and I don't think that's luck. Personally I think Del Rio has had a good influence on this team, that call on 4th down @Saints had a lot to do with how the season has paned. I wonder if the Defense has more to do with the coordinator? Ken Norton Jr., this is already his second year with the team, and the personnel is, at least, better than last year, but performances have not been. I mean, there are some quality players there, as I mentioned before, I don't think that they acutally are this bad.

Isn't he gonna be #1 pick?
Either him or Jonathan Allen. Unless some team.is dumb enough to think that any of these quarterbacks coming out this year are potential franchise players.

imho bears had it set for rebuilt. use barkley as qb, you have the star rb, all you need is to get rid of jeffery and try to mental kevin white up.the money will be there and we cannot get more injured than this season and we will have some top picks too.. fox was really unlucky this year.
