Looking over the matchups and schedules up until this point, we have an intriguing scenario playing out. Seven teams are currently undefeated, while major powerhouses like Alabama and OSU have one defeat to their name. I can't help but raise some questions at this point.

Take a gander at this scenario. TCU and Boise State have rather easy schedules to finish out the season (TCU does have to travel to Utah, but they can still win that game). If TCU beats Utah, we will most probably have two undefeated teams from weak conferences in the BCS. Then you have a team like Oklahoma who is currently undefeated, but has to play Mizzou and OK State away, and has a tendency to choke. Oregon faces stiff competition this weekend at USC and has to play away to Zona later in the season. Michigan State only has to beat Iowa away to really have a good chance of going undefeated.

Now, lets take a look at the teams that have one loss. Bama has two tough games coming up against the Volunteers and LSU, then later they finish up with Auburn at the end of the season. If they can pull through these games, the computers will certainly get a hard-on for them. OSU has to play Iowa away and Michigan, and they have a decent chance to finish up with only one loss. Iowa has OSU and MSU at home, so they could end up with only one loss.

Lets suppose this. Suppose Boise and TCU go undefeated, suppose Oklahoma loses a game, suppose Alabama wins the rest of the schedule along with Ohio State, and suppose Michigan State goes undefeated. What will the national championship be?

I'd appreciate your responses.

There is still alot of football to be played but I think this list of undefeated teams will reduce by mid-November.

But my take on this entire scenario is that the BCS isn't going to change (even though the supplementary Harris poll was added to bring in human input) so the teams from the BCS conferences will get the knowing nod to the NC even though both have 1 loss on their records. The selection committee also knows that there is not much $$$ to be made if TCU v BSU is the NC matchup.

I would like to see the best 2 teams in the nation face off. Now if that means a 1 loss Bama climbs back up to #2 and Oregon and BSU are #1 & #3 respectively, then I would like to see Oregon v BSU. End of discussion.

The sad part is that a 1 loss Ohio State would still get the nod from the selection committee and leap from an undefeated TCU or BSU. Its happened before to Auburn who was undefeated!!!!

I hate the BCS and those that implemented, hide behind and/or support it.

But a scenario like that may be what it takes to finally wreck the credibility of the BCS and bring about a playoff system in college football.

So in some ways, I'm hoping for absolute insanity this BCS season, with several teams going undefeated only to sit out for one-loss candidates like Bama and OSU.

Anything to destroy whatever credibility this system has left.

I've actually been wishing that since 2004 when Miami played in its last BCS bowl game (ironically it was the Orange Bowl against FSU).

But the BCS has had egg on its face many times since its inception but it doesn't matter. Even when there is one undefeated team sitting at #1 and the BCS decides to select Ohio State over a one loss USC, OU, UT, UF, PSU, Iowa, VT, etc...

It doesn't make sense how "the system" not only makes the wrong decision on whom to select for the NC but how poor the quality of the selection is! Then the geniuses decided to introduce the Harris poll so moronic fucktards like Terry Bradshaw can vote to add the human element which apparently is taken into the selection committee's decision making.

It may seem that my hate for OSU is repetitive but it doesn't come without reason. The BCS has selected that shithole team year after year to get waxed in the BCS and about 2-3 times for the NC. Only to get embarrassed.

I still hope the BCS crashes and burns one day and all is made right and things get back to the old way - the right way pre-1998

I love Terry...

Great to see Texas lose once again. Iowa losing to Whisky was good to witness as well, especially Stanzi screwing up on the final drive.

The Big Ten looks very interesting this season. Perhaps the most interesting it has been in years.
