I would welcome Diamanti with open arms but only under certain circumstances. Marginal fee and the selling of some of our other depth.

First, there are some undeniably positive attributes that he brings to a team and that would actually help us in particular:

Modest wages. I think he earns 1M. Could be wrong.
Versatility. Can play RW, LW, CAM, SS, regista possibly.
Left-footer. Do we have one in attack? Do we have anyone that can cut in from the right? Do we have anyone to take lefty set pieces?
Workrate/desire. It's there in spades. Pepe level desire IMO. He will never quit.
Creativity. He's a bit like Mirko where you will hate him some games and love him in the others. Do we have someone with creativity up front outside of Mirko? No.
Set pieces. His left foot is a thunder bolt. Always good to have a player like that on the team.
Long shooting. Especially from the right side of the pitch. We have nothing there to trouble a defence.
I will speculate that he will accept a marginal role/good morale.

In short, to me, he is a slightly dynamic player which we lack in attack. He's unpredictable, slightly crazy but does have a decent amount of talent to go with actual desire.

If we are signing him as a catalyst or a semi "top player", forget it. If we are signing him to replace Giaccherini/Padoin then great because we will subsidize his cost with those sales. If we are signing him and selling Giovinco then we're going to have a surplus in those transactions and end up with the better player, great.

I want him as an upgrade in our depth not as an upgrade to our catalysts.

I think this game is a good example of Diamanti. Work rate is always there, makes bad decisions sometimes but can change games from outside the box in many ways which is needed against packed defenses.

:agree:

Looks like he's a bit accelerated, and that he does better when on wide than on the centre. I liked him since when I saw him on the EURO2012, I'd take him here as you say, replacing Giaccherini or even Giovinco just for the depth.

And he said that Jonathan will be the new Maicon .

But he was right about Vidal. When we signed him, he said that Vidal and Pirlo will take our midfield on a whole new level.
Pretty much anyone could get one right now and then, especially if they would talk as much as Moggi.

Better late than never.

That's what my sprint coach never said to me.
Participation is more important than winning, said Naples Soccer.

:D

:agree:

Moggi contradicts himself way too much, one day he prizes a player and how he will be great and the next says how he is not good, of course he'll be right.

Diamanti could be a good signing.
He is fast has a strong shooting power.
Diamanti might not be as good as Ibra but he is better than Giovinco

[H][/H]Diamanti would add interesting dimensions to both attacking and midfield play. Id see a llorente vucinic and diamanti trident getting the best out of each others qualities. Llorente back to goal, diamanti coming in from centre or wide and vucinic someone to play the ball with and have someone to alleviate some of the defensive pressure on him. Similarily vidal and marchiso would have an extra outlet and find the distance to the the attack more bridgable.

I like Diamanti he's a good player, not sure if he'd fit into Conte's tactics but if he signs him i'm sure has plans for the guy.

As for Moggi's comments I think we could do with Higuain, we need a striker who can actually score

Moggi talking ?

Want me to look up his 2010/2011 statements where he says something in september, says the opposite in december, and in march states that he was right in september ?Yeah, post juventus moggi in a nutshell.

'bout diamanti, we need this kind of player. plain and simple it give us alot of versatility and options.
Offcourse, we should prioritize a quality signing for the frontline. one that is clinical

Trying to make some logic into the Diamanti signing is good and all but Diamanti was never even close to Giovinco's performances from last year with Parma. Not even this year with all the shit Giovinco has gotten has he had a better season. Diamanti produced 8 goals and 8 assists and Giovinco produced 11 goals and 6 assists.

Diamanti is also older than Giovinco, Vucinic and Giaccherini. There is really no need for him or to justify the signing.

That's not true, they offer something different. Diamanti's aggression and sheer determination makes him superior to Giovinco.

Take away Giovinco's CL games (as Diamanti hasn't played it) they are 8/8 and 9/6 in comparison.

Of course that tells part of a story, you'd have to analyse goals, assists and the importance of them.

Then there is the issue of Diamanti being able to play in positions Giovinco can't; i.e. in the middle of the pitch.
