Very true. Mattia at his best can be a pretty reliable defender, but hard to see him become a huge threat going forward. He should just keep it simple, play it safe and be positionally responsible. Sometimes being unnoticed and boring can be a good thing.

I personally prefer the boring Mattia that stays back, doesn't make many mistakes in possession (plays the easy pass) and is hardly noticed over this more adventurous version of him.

Sarri will help him reach prime Maldini levels again.

Because most players are inconsistent to some degree. It has nothing to do with our club, you simply notice it because you watch every single game. Guys like Chiello or Ronaldo who can play at the very highest level from one week to another are rare.

Under Ventura Florenzi has no games (injuries) and De Sciglio hasn't played after the first WC qualification game. I think it's more than fair to say they are forgotten men at the moment.

Conti hasn't even played a single game for the Azzurri yet. Darmian and Zappacosta are easily ahead of him in the pecking order at the moment, then there are the forgotten men De Sciglio and Florenzi. The RB situation is far from clear but I think Ventura will keep faith with his favorites.
