I can't be buggered actually going through the process, but off the top of my head, in your desktop properties ---> screensaver settings, you choose "My pictures slideshow", then specify the folder that you want to use. (It includes subfolders too)

Microsoft Windows ;) it's not exactly free, but I assume you've already got it :)
