Agreed. The reason they have a referee is that he's trusted to use his judgment to make a good decision on the spot. Sure, he's not perfect, and that's why they have 4 officials. I don't think the video ref thing is practical, though it does have it pro's

That's different, though, because when something like that happens, the linesman has his flag up, or the ball didn't cross the line, or whatever... so everyone knows the reason the goal wasn't given. The thing with the video replay, though, is that some little thing that only the 4th official...

Ahhh... but then the crowd would be completely in the dark as to what's just happened...I think it'd be more controversial... imagine this... a goal is scored, and nothing seems wrong. Then 20 seconds later, the 4th official goes and whispers something to the ref...and the ref indicates...
