You never know, really. I don't think it's all about position, I think it's about overall effectiveness. Del Piero has previously played in Nedved's position, behind the strikers, and I'd hardly say he was as effective or consistent as Nedved. As for replaceability, I'm not so sure you can...

Hmmm just to pick on the Milan example, if DP was in the term, that'd probably mean Di Vaio wouldn't have been playing at the time... and I hardly think DP could have scored from that chance :undecide:

Lippi would do it, the guy doesn't hesitate to rest in-form players. (see Miccoli, F)

Personally I love it, it'd probably be close to my ideal juve formation, but i'd take Trez out and put Del Piero in his place, with Miccoli in midfield. Lippi might even half-consider it, because it fulfills his criteria of a four-man defence :D

Maybe you're talking about overall, in the long term... but the topic at hand is mainly what will happen in the weeks after DP returns, and IMHO it'd be silly to just throw him straight into the term, just because he's the captain and DV's form has only shown in recent weeks. EDIT: Sorry...

I know what you mean. Despite DP's performances in the CL finals I've seen :rolleyes:, in the real crunch games, I'd honestly feel better fielding DP, but in the regular Serie A games, even against say Sociedad, I'd rather start DV on his current form, even if Alex is fit.

It'd be so sad to see Miccoli and Di Vaio on the bench, these guys can be absolutely key players for us, and Lippi would be crazy not to use Di Vaio on his current run of form. I've said this before, to surprisingly little outrage, but i'll say it again... i think DP will be somewhat of an...
