It's also one of the problems, basically you pay for something that is protected and will play only on a certain device. If you payed for something you should be allowed to what you wish with it, not be limited by any means.
It's expensive, it's DRM, it's low quality and yes, it's expensive.
Artists should get more, but they don't, record labels do and there in lies the problem and the cause of it. I seriously suggest you read this, it might even save you a few bucks in the future.
I just read this today and though it is long I think it makes some pretty good points, I agree with pretty much most of it.
