I felt you wrote them both off too easily. Becoming complacent is dangerous if you give hungry teams a sniff.

Both are massive upgrades that should go far into completing the first XI to a strength no other Serie A side possesses.

Giaccherini has been the only link between the central midfield and Balotelli, Prandelli's experiments aren't working.

He looked exhausted, but he always does. I don't think the weather and the lack of rest helps.

Hard worker, great cross, loads of power and some pace. Effective wide player, and was ready to take that extra step in 2010 and he sort of fell apart since.

Their careers since that post was made... I quite liked Vargas for a season or two, should have done more.
