  1. I'm buying a Macbook Pro - convince me not to

From my experience of selling computers, go for a Sony. Best warranty, build quality, and most satisfied consumers. Either that, or look at the Asus UL-series. UL30 or UL50 (13" and 15"). Quite cool and solid computers with pretty good performance and battery life.

:D Funny 'cause it's true. I went to the local Mac store yesterday to buy some kind of shield for the computer and one of the salesmen found out that I had just bought a Mac. Guess what he did? He actually invited me to a "seminar" on Tuesday where I could bring and discuss my new Mac with...
  3. I'm buying a Macbook Pro - convince me not to

Yep, that's what I meant by 'it'. EDIT - So far I'm very pleased that I bought it. Just a few hours of usage though. The touchpad is magnificent.
  4. I'm buying a Macbook Pro - convince me not to

I'm typing on it with my left now. Right hand's busy with other things.
  5. I'm buying a Macbook Pro - convince me not to

Don't worry, I'll report on any problem or disturbance with it that I'll come across. Of course, there won't be any.
  6. I'm buying a Macbook Pro - convince me not to

I think you've got your dates wrong. :)
  7. I'm buying a Macbook Pro - convince me not to

Thank you for the feedback Vlatko and everyone else. I just ordered one. Time will tell if it will be worth it or not, but I just know that I would regret buying something else. A feeling that would haunt me for a few years.

The only Lenovo on the Swedish market which appeals to me is the Thinkpad Edge 13", which costs just €200 less than the Mac. I do like Lenovo, though. My mother has had one for ages and it's still working well. It's nice to hear some people with Mac-experiences of their own. Will they...
  9. I'm buying a Macbook Pro - convince me not to

Vaio's great. It's a shame about the battery-life on them, apart from the model I wrote down in the topic post. It's nearly 3x longer on the Asus, Acer and Mac. They're also just slightly cheaper than the Mac, but the warranty itself makes it worth it.
  10. I'm buying a Macbook Pro - convince me not to

Bit of both. I know I shouldn't get one, but... it's all shiny! You are of course right about it being expensive, but like I said, the other real options above aren't half the price. The Mac, with a student and staff-discount comes at ~€1000. The Asus and Acer come at ~700-800. So I'll have...
  11. I'm buying a Macbook Pro - convince me not to

Win 7 itself was fine, but due to my computer's heat issues, I needed the slimmest OS I could run. When you say I can get better for the money, do you refer to say, larger/faster RAM and processor or general quality/build of the hardware?
  12. I'm buying a Macbook Pro - convince me not to

My current 5-year old laptop is giving up due to heat issues and constant crashing. I uninstalled Windows 7 and I'm now running Ubuntu which is proving to be much more reliable (surprise), but the computer itself still has certain issues. Time for a new one. I'm looking for something smaller...
