[Champions League] Bayern München vs JUVENTUS (April 2, 2013)

Juve don't even need an early goal. Not need to really force things early on. Only if it's still 0-0 after an hour would I really look for them to try and open things up and attack Bayern.

[Champions League] Bayern München vs JUVENTUS (April 2, 2013)

Can understand Conte's reaction. He'd made adjustments at halftime that made Juve a bit more solid and that goal came at a point where Juve, while not imposing themselves on the game, were looking relatively comfortable (at least in comparison to the rest of the game) only for a goal to be...

[Champions League] Bayern München vs JUVENTUS (April 2, 2013)

Also, that's a game I wish I'd been present to watch, because I would really like to know what exactly was going on in the middle third of the pitch - in terms of movement from Juve and positioning/marking from Bayern - because you just couldn't see it when the camera was focused in on the play...

[Champions League] Bayern München vs JUVENTUS (April 2, 2013)

Well, not entirely sure what to make of that. Bayern played okay and pressed reasonably well, but I thought Juve were pretty terrible. It was apparent from early on that Bayern intended to step up the pitch to make it hard for Juve to play out from that back. However, they weren't pressing...

[Champions League] Bayern München vs JUVENTUS (April 2, 2013)

Yeah, but 4-2-3-1 (particularly one that actually has wingers) is not a comfortable match-up for Juve's system. Have to work very well to avoid being outnumbered on the flanks or to avoid being left light in the centre if players have moved wide to avoid an overload on a flank.

[Champions League] Bayern München vs JUVENTUS (April 2, 2013)

Be the wingbacks that would be a concern as much as the central players. At some point, unless Juve are just going to be stuck playing a flat back five, the wingbacks are going to move beyind the Bayern wingers. Giving the ball away at the wrong moment as that is happening could leave Juve in...

[Champions League] Bayern München vs JUVENTUS (April 2, 2013)

Wouldn't be a bad move in my book. Low risk and, even if the ball is lost, allows Juve to push up behind the long ball if they want to try and have a go at pressing Bayern high up the pitch occasionally.

[Champions League] Bayern München vs JUVENTUS (April 2, 2013)

Juve's midfielders certainly need to be very careful about picking when to move forward. You don't want them bursting beyond Matri or Quagliarella only for the ball to be lost, potentially leaving Juve short of numbers defensively.

[Champions League] Bayern München vs JUVENTUS (April 2, 2013)

I'd be playing Asamoah precisely because I think he is more suited to playing one-on-one against Lahm that Peluso. I'd be looking for Chiellini to play Muller.

[Champions League] Bayern München vs JUVENTUS (April 2, 2013)

I certainly wouldn't be opening up and giving Bayern counter-attacking chances. Keep the tempo slow, men behind the ball and look to take advantage of any chances that may present themselves. I'd also be looking long in to the space that Lahm will leave when he goes forward. Have a forward...

[Champions League] Bayern München vs JUVENTUS (April 2, 2013)

Yes, because Juve's midfield is good enough that they can have a lot of control over the game if they play well. However, I wouldn't go testing the theory that Juve can play Bayern in an open game tonight. Save that for the second game, if it is required.

[Champions League] Bayern München vs JUVENTUS (April 2, 2013)

The Italian champions Juventus, meanwhile, come into the game with a nine-point lead and well on course for a 29th scudetto. "We'll head to Munich with a spring in our step knowing that we've done our job on the domestic front," said the coach, Antonio Conte, after his side won 2-1 at...

[Champions League] Bayern München vs JUVENTUS (April 2, 2013)

I may well bet on a draw because it looks like good odds. Not sure if I really expect a draw, though. Finding it really hard to picture how the game will go at the moment.

The draw looks mighty tempting there.

[Champions League] Bayern München vs JUVENTUS (April 2, 2013)

Arrogant, attention-seeking prick. Could easily envisage him giving a penalty or a red card that most refs wouldn't give. Pretty much. I think Asamoah will start rather than Peluso. I'd expect Matri to start if Vucinic isn't deemed fit, but I think Vucinic will play even if he's only fit...

Probably because very few players are good at crossing these days.

Asamoah. Think he's more suited to playing against Lahm.
