Not sure they're really in competition. Most of Giaccherini's appearances are now in midfield, rather than on the wing. No, not at all.

Anyway, even if the clubs agree a fee, I'm far from convinced Giaccherini would agree to this transfer.

He'd be a good signing for Sunderland. For Juve he's not even first-choice backup, really. Tends to be used as a sub when Juve need some energy to try and up the tempo of a game.

I'd say 8m euros plus another 2m if Sunderland avoid relegation this year would be pretty fair.

Players playing for their place at the World Cup are also more likely to be motivated for an end-of-season kickabout than the fifteen or so players already guaranteed to be there.

Thought it was odd that in the first half Pogba was the player pushing up while Giaccherini held back to maintain the shape of the team. He's only really effective when given the freedom to run off the ball into space.

Yeah, he seems to have calmed down a bit, having been terribly frantic quite a lot of the time last season.
